Miltenberg: Much younger than its historical roots

The medieval half-timbered town of Miltenberg lies at the southernmost point of the River Main quadrangle. The Franconian town not only boasts a beautiful old town full of half-timbered buildings, romantic alleyways and hidden corners, but is also characterised by such a young and vibrant feeling for a town dating back to the Middle Ages, all thanks to its lively urban culture.

With the famous “Schnatterloch” and the oldest princely inn in Germany, Miltenberg offers both a lively present and exciting past.

The town’s lovingly crafted shops with a personal atmosphere in the pedestrian zone and the Miltenberg outlet centre invite you to enjoy a day of shopping.

Bürgstadt: did you know ... gold medals grow here

Bürgstadt is one of the most important wine towns in Franconia when it comes to red wine, and is seen as a real insider tip among wine connoisseurs! You can discover the diversity and top quality of Franconian viticulture on a wine experience tour.

No culinary wish remains unfulfilled in the town’s traditional inns, restaurants, bakeries and cosy cafés. This is one of the reasons why Miltenberg and Bürgstadt were honoured as part of the “GenussOrte 2024” competition. But it’s the local brewers, chefs, schnapps distillers, coffee roasters and even whisky makers who prove time and time again that they are just as deserving of this title.

Hiking in the “Spessart” & “Odenwald” mountain ranges

Many people dream of walking in a forest like this. And we have two of them on offer.

If you prefer greenery, you can choose between two attractive hiking regions: the “Spessart” to the north of the River Main and the “Odenwald” to the south-west.

Many kilometres of hiking trails through idyllic valleys, mysterious forests, sun-drenched vineyards and magnificent views of castles, monasteries and the blue ribbon-like flow of the River Main leave nothing to be desired.

Relaxed boat tours on the River Main, fascinating museums, an exciting wooden marble run for kids, well-maintained golf courses and other leisure attractions round off the range of experiences on offer.

And for the sporty peeps among us: discovery tours by bike

Fascinating views of wooded heights, red sandstone along the River Main, cosy villages, beautiful landscapes and well-signposted cycle paths ensure every kilometre is a wonderful experience.

The marvellous backdrop offered by the “Spessart” and “Odenwald” mountain ranges offers a variety of discovery tours to suit all abilities, all of which can be completed in one day. It’s so lovely to hear the flow of the river instead of the flow of traffic. For those who are even more energetic, there are spectacular mountain bike trails to be explored.

Bike-friendly regional transport, a robust network of e-charging stations, bike repair shops and hire stations round off the service for sporty active holidaymakers.
