Theme Parks in Bavaria: 9 Tips for Families with Children
Legoland Deutschland
The Danish toy bricks can be found in almost every children’s room. In Günzburg, around 40 minutes by car from Augsburg, there is an entire theme park full of Lego: about 57 million bricks have been used in this park for rides and exhibits.
Whether you enjoy rides for all ages, marvel at Miniland where cities and landmarks are lovingly recreated in miniature, or dive into the different themed worlds of the park, everyone will find something to enjoy. If you cannot manage it all in one day – or would simply like to stay longer – you can spend the night in one of the creative accommodations in the Lego Holiday Village.
Allgäu Skyline Park
About one hour by car or train from Munich and around 40 minutes from Augsburg lies the Allgäu Skyline Park. With more than 60 attractions, it is Bavaria’s largest theme park. Since 2020, it has even been home to the world’s highest flying carousel: the 150-metre Allgäuflieger lifts visitors with a head for heights to 110 metres and spins them around at 50 kilometres per hour.
Other adrenaline-filled rides for visitors aged 15 and over with a minimum height of 150 centimetres, attractions for children aged four and up, and year-round seasonal events such as the “Oktoberfest for Children” or Halloween guarantee fun for all. Skyline Park is a thrilling destination with breathtaking rides.

Bavaria Filmstadt
The theme and amusement park in Grünwald near Munich gives visitors of all ages an insight into the world of film. Guests can look behind the scenes of film productions and have access to film sets and props. As Bavaria Film City is not just an attraction but also a film production site, many films have actually been shot here. The Film City can be explored on a guided tour or independently. Additional entertainment includes a 4D cinema where the line between reality and film disappears and a virtual reality experience that transports visitors into fantastic worlds.
