Huguenot Church and Church Tower

First Huguenot place of worship outside France, completed in 1693. From the tower, which was built later, you have a beautiful view over the city after climbing 117 stairs. Both can be visited as part of a guided tour of the city.

Botanical Garden

Was created for the university in 1747. 4,000 plants from different climatic zones and vegetation areas across two hectares. Some highlights include the Tropical House, Canary House and Medicinal Plant Garden. Free admission.

Markgrafentheater: Wunderschönes Opernhaus im Rokoko-Stil

Margrave Theatre

Considered the oldest baroque theatre in southern Germany. Built from 1715 to 1719 on the model of Italian opera theatres, interior redesigned in 1743, modernised today. Visits as part of guided tours of the city, the theatre also offers guided tours itself.

Steinbach Brewery

Palais Stutterheim/Kunstpalais

In the south of the market square stands the Palais Stutterheim, completed in 1730 and today beautifully renovated. The Kunstpalais within it shows exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.

Burgberg

There is no evidence of a castle, but there is evidence of a parish fair! The popular festival has been held every year since 1755 at Whitsun, in front of the old beer cellars on the south slope. Otherwise, the beer garden at Entla’s Keller is open from April until the last Sunday in September when the weather is nice, or at the Osteria “La vita è bella” in the Altstädter Schießhaus.

Heinrich Kirchner Sculpture Garden

Seventeen large bronze sculptures by the Erlangen-born artist Heinrich Kirchner (1902 to 1984). Ambassadors of peace, hope and love. On the southern slope of the 332-metre-high Burgberg. Daily all year round except for the days of the Bergkirchweih, free admission.
