Family Winterland Mitterdorf

Junior Ski Circus and Tobogganing Fun

People also like to call the Mitterdorf family ski area around Mount Almberg (1,139 metres high) the "Glacier of the Bavarian Forest" because of its guaranteed snow. Modern snow cannons guarantee perfectly groomed slopes and good snow conditions, usually from Christmas to March.

In the "Family Winterland Mitterdorf", children quickly learn to ski in the multi-award-winning Junior Ski Circus. The gently sloping slopes and a ski carousel help with this. Three so called magic carpets (conveyor belts) make the ascent easy for the little ones. There are warmth, play and rest rooms with bathrooms and nappy-changing facilities and a hot drinks vending machine. Children from the age of two can be looked after all day. Ski school and ski rental are on site. There are also numerous parking spaces at the Junior Ski Circus.

Thanks to the four T-bar lifts, a double chairlift, a cable lift and the four "magic carpets", skiers and snowboarders never have to wait long in the entire area. For cross-country skiers and winter hikers, a good twenty kilometres of cross-country trails as well as ski and winter hiking trails are groomed or rolled.

Four ski schools offer alpine, snowboard and cross-country skiing courses for all ages. Ski rental and two ski workshops can be found on the slopes and in Mitterfirmiansreut. The community has more than six hundred guest beds (hotels, guesthouses, flats and holiday homes).

In addition to skiing, a toboggan run provides winter fun. A 200 metre long, covered conveyor belt takes you to the starting point of the tobogganing fun. There are special toboggan tickets and a Zi-Bob and toboggan hire service.

The Mitterdorf ski area is well suited for skiers with disabilities (wheelchair users) due to its wide slopes and lift facilities, such as rope lifts and four conveyor belts, accessible accommodation included.
