View of the monastery at Höglwörth Lake

Hiking Trail Höglwörther See

Description

The hike around Lake Höglwörth is a highlight. While circling the lake, there are always views of the picturesque monastery.

Also known as the pearl of the Rupertiwinkel, Lake Höglwörth and its hiking trail offer a unique experience. The lake was formed after the Saalach glacier melted about 10,000 years ago. It provides a habitat for pike, catfish and other fish. They can be easily observed in the shallow water of the lake, as well as from the footbridge (near the parking lot) across the lake. The path leads from the parking lot over the footbridge, past the sunbathing lawn (incl. kiosk in summer) and after a short distance downhill to the waterfall and another bathing bay. The lakeside trail is relatively flat and wide and offers resting benches again and again, inviting you to take a break. An escort is recommended due to short slope after the swimming pool.
