The Forest Experience Trail at Ochsenkopf is an approx. 1.5 km long circular trail and has various (altogether 11) experience stations. It invites you to marvel, listen, feel and learn between the tactile path, tree telephone, tree species house, soak test, xylophone and animal long jump pit.

The best parking facilities for the start of the path are in Bischofsgrün.

Labelling

  • The circular path is continuously signposted with a lynx on a wooden plate.

Parking place

  • A parking place in general and for people with disabilities is not available.

WC for people with disabilities

  • There is no public toilet on the hiking trail.

  • width of the movement area is 300 cm. The path is 400 m from the bus stop to the starting point and is easy to walk and drive on. There is a 10m long gradient of almost 8 %.

hiking trail

  • 1.5 km long, the trail is partly also suitable for other users (bicycle etc.); several up to max. 50 m long gradients (up to 12 %) exist; a short gradient in section 5 with 17 % on 5 m length. Forest and forest road; not easy to walk on and drive on. The flooring leads to the classification "heavy".
  • Section 1: Starting point information board - 1st crossing/junction of the path (0-500 m); section: heavy. There is a 50 m long incline with 12%. In total, several sections with inclinations of more than 5-8% are present over a length of 500 metres. In the direction of the mitre, these are only gradients. Seating is available at a distance of 300 m. This section contains stations 2 (tree telephone) and 3 (tactile station). Forest road; not easy to walk and drive on.
  • Section 2: Station 4 - branch to Station 5; (500 to 900 m); Section: difficult
    There is a 10 m long gradient (slope) with 6 %, otherwise flat or < 2 %; Forest road; not easy to walk and drive on. Seating is available at 200 m intervals.
  • Section 3: Branch Station 5 - Branch to Station 6; (900 - 1,250 m); Section: heavy
    There is a 20 m slope with 8%, otherwise flat or < 3%; Seating is available. At station 5 the highest point of the circular path is reached.
  • Section 4: Branch to station 6 on narrow path - start of wide forest path (1,250 - 1,450 m); section: difficult. There is a 5 m long incline with 11 %, otherwise flat or < 3 %; seating available. Forest road; not easy to walk and drive on. Roots and stones; width of path section 180 cm.
  • Section 5: Start of wide forest path - start/end point of path (information board); (1,450 - 1,500 m); Section: heavy
    There is a 5 m long slope with 17 %. Seating available. Forest path; 220 cm wide; not easy to walk on and drive on.
