Vacation Inspiration "Discover Culture in Sebalder Old Town"

Destination Nuremberg

Description

Explore the northern part of Nuremberg’s historic Old Town: the picturesque Sebald Old Town. Here, impressive architecture and a rich cultural history come together to create an unforgettable experience.

A real highlight of your tour is the Toy Museum. Since the Middle Ages, Nuremberg has been known worldwide as a true “toy city.” In the Old Town and in nearly all city districts, there were once hundreds of toy companies that produced wooden toys, pewter figurines, intricately detailed doll kitchens, toy stores, and—in particular—masterfully crafted tin toys. Today, the museum showcases historic toy treasures as well as modern toys from around the world—from Lego and Barbie to Playmobil and Matchbox—across 1,400 square meters of exhibition space. In the summer, the cozy museum café in the courtyard and the museum playground also invite you to take a relaxing break.

If you’d like to spend the night within truly historic walls, your best bet is to stay at the Nuremberg Youth Hostel. Located in the former imperial stables of Nuremberg’s Imperial Castle, it sits majestically high above the city and combines medieval charm with modern comfort.

For further inspiration and personalized, accessible tips, the staff at the Tourist Information office on the Hauptmarkt are always happy to assist you.

Tip: Modern takes on Franconian specialties await you at the restaurant “DIE WIRTSCHAFT,” located just a few meters from the Tourist Information office on the Hauptmarkt  is located some distance away.
