Holiday Inspiration "Glass Experience and Cultural History"
Bavarian Forest
Description
Glass Experience and Cultural History
The Bavarian Forest is the "Glass Heart of Europe". The region's glassmaking tradition dates back to the 14th century and has deeply shaped the forest and its inhabitants.
In the Frauenau Glass Museum, you will embark on a journey through the cultural history of glass. From the beginnings of production in Egypt, which date back over 7,000 years, to the present day and the cultural significance of the material for Bavaria and Bohemia.
In the Glass Gardens next to the museum, you will discover great exhibits on a walk of about 3 km, about whose artists and origin 30 audio stations will inform you.
You can stop for a bite to eat in the adjacent cafeteria.
Arrival and mobility on site
You can arrive by car or comfortably by train. From the train station you can reach the accommodation by bus or taxi.
In the National Park area you can also use the Igel bus. Many buses are low-floor. However, not all platforms and not all buses are barrier-free. If you are unsure, please contact the companies listed in the timetable before setting off!
