Getting There & Local Transportation

Located halfway between Munich and Frankfurt, Nuremberg is equally easy to reach via all modes of transportation: 

• By train: Nuremberg is a major hub in the national rail network. The modern main station is located right at the gateway to the Old Town (only about a 15-minute walk to the city center).
  • Accessibility at the station: Nearly all platforms feature step-free  access (elevator), train arrival displays, public address systems, tactile handrail signs, a  tactile guidance system on the platform (except for platforms 2 and 3), as well as high-contrast  wayfinding and stair step markings. The platform height on almost all tracks is ≥ 55 cm.
• By long-distance bus: National and international bus service goes to the Central Bus Station (ZOB). From here, it’s just a 15-minute walk to the historic old town center. The ZOB has a guidance system for the visually impaired and an accessible restroom. 
• By plane: The Albrecht Dürer International Airport is just a twelve-minute subway ride from the city center. The U2 subway station and the taxi stands are located right in front of the terminals, with no steps to climb.
• By car: You can easily reach the city via the A3, A6, A9, and A73 highways. The dynamic parking guidance system around the Old Town provides reliable information about available spaces in parking garages.
