All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities and partially accessible for wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There are two parking spaces available for people with disabilities (parking space size: 300 cm x 570 cm; approx. 20 m from the entrance for people with disabilities).
  • Access to the building is possible without steps (max. 2 cm threshold) via the rear entrance. At the main entrance there is a threshold with a height of 3.5 cm.
  • All rooms that can be used by the guest are accessible at ground level or via ramps.
  • Doors and passageways are at least 86 cm wide.
  • The sales counter with checkout area is 90 cm high. 
  • The exhibits as well as the corresponding exhibits are predominately visible while sitting and standing.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. The entire route of the guided tour is infinitely accessible for wheelchair users.
  • Mobile or fixed seats are available for people with walking disabilities that can be used during the tour.
  • There are no wheelchair accessible tables in the gastronomy.

Toilet for people with disabilities

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin 200 cm x 120 cm;
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 120 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 97 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 105 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be folded up. 
  • The washbasin is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen while sitting or standing.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • External paths mainly are rich in contrast or tactilely detectable sidewalk boundaries.
  • The main entrance is visually rich in contrast and can be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.
  • The house signage is in clearly legible, visually contrasting font; however, it cannot be tactilely read or written in Braille.
  • Rooms and corridors are usually brightly lit.
  • For stairs, the first and last steps do not have any visually contrasting edges with the horizontal and vertical step surfaces.
  • There are usually no obstacles, e.g. objects protruding into the path / room are present.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing.
  • There is no uninterrupted guidance system with floor indicators.
  • The exhibits are generally well illuminated. The exhibits and the information on the exhibits are visually rich in contrast.
  • The information on the exhibits is provided in written and photorealistic representation. There are exhibits/experience stations for feeling and smelling.
  • Technical presentation of the information transfer: partly about films
  • Guided tours for people with visual impairment and blind people are offered (registration required). During the guided tours, exhibits are integrated for keying.

  • There is an audio induction loop in the conference room, but not at the counter/cashier's desk.
  • In the case of an acoustic alarm, there is no visually perceptible flash signal.
  • The information on the exhibits is provided in written and photorealistic representation , but not in German sign language.
  • Tours with FM equipment are not possible (e.g. headphones, neck ring loops) nor are they offered in German Sign Language (DGS).

  • Name and logo of the company are not clearly visible from the outside.
  • The objective of the route is usually within sight, but the signs are not always visible at a distance.
  • There is no information in easy language.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments (advance booking required). 
  • The contents (e.g. exhibits) of the tour for people with cognitive impairment are easy to understand (e.g. pictures).
