City Museum in the "Herzogskasten" / Tourist Information Abensberg

Description

The Herzogskasten Abensberg is an old granary from the 15th century. Today it houses the town museum and the town's tourist information office.

The Herzogskasten Abensberg is home to the town museum. Abensberg is a young, modern town with an old history. On a fascinating and varied journey through history, it comes alive for everyone: From Neolithic times to Count Babo, the legendary founder of the town, and Aventinus, the Bavarian polymath, to Napoleon, who fought one of his great battles in Abensberg. Changing special exhibitions complete the offer. Thematic, individual guided tours take place on request. The town museum offers children an exciting journey through time: everyone can go on a voyage of discovery with Count Babo. On special children's tours or in workshops, the little visitors explore the secrets of the house.  All exhibition areas in the city museum are fully wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available in the Duke's Box.  There is also an elevator that provides easy access to all floors. The Herzogskasten is also easily accessible for wheelchair users via a cobblestone-free zone. An electronic entrance door next to the main portal provides wheelchair-accessible entry. The tourist information is located on the first floor of the Herzogskasten and is also accessible without barriers.
