Description
The Sozialverband VdK is the largest self-help organization for socially disadvantaged people in Germany.
It lobbies for and supports pensioners, people with disabilities, the chronically ill, people in need of care and their relatives, families, older workers and the unemployed.
Social law is the domain of the VdK. We advise our members on all matters of social law and represent them before the authorities and social courts.

- The "Stadtplatz" bus stop is approx. 85 metres from the entrance.
- There is a car park for people with disabilities in the underground car park (approx. 15 m from the entrance).
- The car park is 345 cm wide and 535 cm long.
- Access to the building is stepless (max. 2 cm threshold).
- All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are steplessly accessible or can be reached via a lift.
- The lift cabin is 120 cm x 220 cm. The lift door is 100 cm wide.
- Passages and doors are at least 89 cm wide.
- The information counter is 85 cm high at its lowest point.

Public toilet for people with disabilities
- The manoeuvring spaces are:
in front of the sink 160 cm x 150 cm;
in front of the toilet 160 cm x 150 cm;
to the left of the toilet 96 cm x 71 cm;
to the right of the toilet 96 cm x 71 cm. - There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
- The grab rails can be flipped-up.
- The sink is wheelchair compatible.
- The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
- There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

- Assistance dogs (guide dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the establishment/provision.
- There are glass doors that have no safety markings at a height of 40-70 cm and 120-160 cm.
- The entrance areas are recognisable by a tactile change of floor covering and are visually contrasted with the surroundings.
- There are no floor indicators in the interior or exterior areas.
- An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system. The operating elements in the lift are visually rich in contrast and tactilely detectable.
- Alternatively, there is a staircase. There is a handrail on one side. The staircase does not have a high-contrast design.
- All elevated areas that can be used by guests (entrance area, cash desk/counter, bedrooms, corridors, hallways) are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
- The signage for the organisation is designed in easily legible lettering. There is a good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background.

- There is no clearly perceptible visual alarm.
- An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, but not visually.
