Bike tour Weltenburg Tour
Description
Varied round trip for handbikers with a boat trip through the Danube breakthrough to the Weltenburg monastery.
The 37 km long Weltenburg tour begins in Kelheim in Lower Bavaria and starts with a boat trip through the Danube breakthrough. The rocks rise steeply out of the water up to 70 meters high. After about 40 minutes, the ship docks at Weltenburg Monastery. There are 5 steps leading into the baroque monastery church, and a mobile ramp is available by appointment. The monastery tavern offers Bavarian cuisine and freshly brewed beer from the monastery brewery. Strengthened, the tour continues to Abensberg with its magnificent town houses and the Kuchlbauer Tower built according to plans by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The town museum shows the eventful history of the town. The tourist information office also offers wheelchair-friendly guided tours of the town. The way back to Kelheim leads past meadows, forests and fields.
The Weltenburg tour is only possible in combination with the boat trip (end of March to beginning of November except during low or high tide, www.schifffahrt-kelheim.de).
