All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities and for wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There is at least one parking space for people with disabilities.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via an elevator or lift. 
  • Exception: in the Schwäbische Galerie on the upper floor, one exhibition level is only accessible via two steps; alternatively, a caterpillar staircase is available. 
  • External paths have a maximum longitudinal gradient of 11 % over 20 m. 
  • All doors/passages that can be used by visitors and are raised are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The exhibits are predominantly visible, perceptible or recognizable when seated. 
  • The cash desk counter is 74 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • The play area of the playground is also wheelchair-accessible (asphalt, rubber, single-joint slabs, etc.). There is play equipment that is accessible and usable for wheelchair users. 
  • There are two public toilets for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from at least one side (at least 90 cm). There is a folding grab rail at least on the accessible side of the toilet.   
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, rollator, museum stool.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Advance booking is necessary. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour. The entire route of the tour is steplessly accessible for wheelchair users.

  • Assistance dogs (guide dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas. 
  • The entrance area is visually contrasted with the surroundings. 
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in clearly legible and high-contrast lettering.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • The steps are not visually rich in contrast. Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.
  • There is a visual contrast between the exhibits and the surroundings. 
  • The exhibits are generally well lit. 
  • The exhibit signage is visually rich in contrast. 
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed in writing and acoustically, and media stations, touch stations and films are available in some cases. 
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing. 
  • There are no guided tours for visually impaired and blind people.

  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is only confirmed acoustically. Alternatively, stairs are available. 
  • Information about the exhibits is provided in sign language.
  • A Mediaguide is available, which offers a guided tour in German sign language.
  • The media guide can be connected to the hearing aid (T-coil).
  • Films are provided with subtitles. 
  • The spoken texts from the audio stations can be read in an accompanying booklet. 
  • Guided tours with FM equipment are available for people with hearing impairments (e.g. headphones, neckloops).  Pre-registration is necessary.

  • The name or logo of the museum is clearly recognizable from the outside. 
  • The destination of the route is within sight or signs are constantly visible or there is an uninterrupted guidance system.
  • Information on the exhibits is provided in writing, audibly and in plain language (exhibition booklets). 
  • Orientation information is available in written form.
  • Mediaguide with a guided tour in easy-to-understand language is available.   
  • Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments. Advance booking is required.  
  • The guided tour for people with cognitive impairments is given in plain language.
