Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report. 

  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The “Schönborntor” bus stop is 100 meters away (the path is steep and not easily accessible on foot or by vehicle in places). 
  • The entrance, ticket office, and shop are accessible without steps.  
  • The special exhibition area (Schönbornhalle and Kelterhalle) is adjacent to the ticket office and is also accessible without steps. A small part of the special exhibition is located in the Romanesque Room (with stairs leading upstairs).   
  • The “Archaeology” exhibition area and the Romanesque Room can be accessed via a side entrance (door threshold 12 cm) in consultation with the staff.   
  • All other exhibition areas are only accessible via stairs. 
  • All doors/passages and paths that can be used by visitors are at least 80 cm wide.
  • Most of the exhibits and information can be viewed while seated.
  • Seating is available.
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities in the second courtyard, which is accessible from the left (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.   
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Advance booking is required. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with visual impairments and for blind people".

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easy-to-read and high-contrast lettering. There is a tactile site plan in the Schönbornhalle. 
  • There are visually high-contrast and tactile floor indicators in the foyer and in the special exhibition area. 
  • All elevated areas that can be used by guests are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • Stairs usually have visually contrasting edges at least on the first and last step. Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.
  • Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast. 
  • There are four tactile stations with Braille in the wine press hall. 
  • Seating is available.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Advance booking is required. 
  • During the guided tours, tactile exhibits are integrated.

  • An audio induction loop system is available. 
  • Information about the exhibits is mainly provided in writing.
  • Seating is available. 
  • An audio guide and an induction coil can be borrowed from the museum ticket office. The induction coil transmits the sound of the audio device directly to your hearing aid.  
  • There is a media guide with sign language videos. 
  • Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments. Advance booking is necessary.  
  • Guided tours with FM equipment are available for people with hearing impairments (e.g. headphones, neckloops).

  • The destinations of the paths are not always within sight. There are no signs at a constantly visible distance.

  • Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments. Advance booking is required.  
  • The contents (e.g. exhibits) of the guided tour for people with cognitive impairments are easy to understand or are explained in an easy-to-understand way (e.g. pictorially).
