Old gardening tools, almost forgotten plant treasures, books, gardening knowledge - everything that belongs to garden culture in the past and today can be experienced in the Museum of Garden Culture. Visitors have the opportunity to wander through the green and discover interesting, stimulating, beautiful and interesting things on the extensive grounds amidst meadows and fields. All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There is one marked parking space for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm).
  • The path from the car park to the entrance as well as to the Café is 100 m long. It is easy to walk and drive on.
  • The Museum is steplessly accessible via the main entrance. The side entrance is accessible via a treshold of 2 cm.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via a ramp.
  • The ramp has a maximum gradient of 12 % and a total length of 1 m.
  • Almost all evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 90 cm wide. Exception: The door to the Literarischen Bienenhaus (“Literary Bee House” with book exchange) is 86 cm wide.
  • External paths are at least 150 cm wide.
  • The gardens are arranged in a large green area and only accessible via this. Slight unevenness is present at a maximum gradient of 3 %.
  • Seating is partly available on the outside area.
  • The exhibits/stations as well as the information are predominately visible when seated.
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the Café as well as at the terrace (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).

Public toilet for people with disabilities

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm; left and right of the toilet at least 90 cm x 70 cm.
  • There is a grab rail on the left side of the toilet. The grab rail can be flipped-up.
  • The sink has limited access.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • An alarm trigger is available.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed in relevant areas/rooms.
  • External paths have visually contrasting and tactilely detectable sidewalk boundaries.
  • The entrance) are not visually rich in contrast, but not recognizable by a tactile change of floor covering.
  • The evaluated areas that can be used by the guest are predominantly well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible and contrasting font.
  • There are glass doors without safety markings.
  • The exhibits/stations are usually well illuminated.
  • The information on the exhibits/stations is provided in writing and is not visually rich in contrast.

  • There are ten tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact in the Café.
  • There is no seating area with low background noises (e.g. corner seating, separate room).hed off/adjusted.
