The sporty youth hostel in the Allgäu

You can't do without exercise at our certified sports youth hostel. Exciting leisure activities are on the sports agenda here. Groups and school classes will find a true oasis of well-being here. Meadows, pastures and forests are waiting to be conquered. Two of our dormitories are wheelchair accessible. Small but nice and very familiar: that is our house.

Class trip offers - A class trip to the Sport|Youth Hostel Ottobeuren is a special highlight, because a special experience awaits you here on every occasion. Choose from a stay on the theme of art, our indoor climbing programme, discoveries in nature or a magical circus workshop. Some of our programmes have been awarded the "curriculum supporting" seal and are particularly suitable for school trips with primary schools

Our tip: Youth hostels cannot always be correctly assigned to the terms "wheelchair accessible" and "wheelchair-friendly". Before you decide on a stay, let the hostel team advise you in detail.

Our house offers:

  • 2 bedrooms with shower/WC for wheelchair users for max. 2 persons
  • The house is accessible at ground level
  • the house is built without thresholds on the ground floor
  • There is a separate, lockable shower/WC suitable for wheelchair users.
  • all common rooms (except day room 3) are accessible for wheelchair users
  • A small part of the house (gallery + teacher's lounge) is only accessible via stairs.

  • There is a general parking lot available. 
  • All rooms and facilities usable and raised for the guest are accessible without steps.
  • Ramps are at least 180 cm wide. Ramps have a maximum longitudinal slope of 5%.
  • Doors are at least 70 cm wide. 
  • The entrance/access to the building is step-free.
  • The counter is 105 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • There are 18 accessible tables (maximum height 80 cm, accessible at a height of 67 cm with a depth of 30 cm). 

Room Nuremberg

  • Other similar rooms available (Eichstätt, Oberammergau).
  • The room is a shared room.
  • The movement areas are:
  • in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 100 cm x 180 cm;
  • to the left of the bed 0 cm x 0 cm;
  • to the right of the bed 180 cm x 210 cm.
  • The bed is 46 cm high.

Bathroom (also public WC)

  • The movement areas in the bathroom are:  
  • in front of the sink 190 cm x 115 cm;
  • in front of the WC 115 cm x 190 cm;
  • to the left of the WC 34 cm x 55 cm;
  • to the right of the WC 100 cm x 55 cm.

WC / washbasin

  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC.
  • The right handhold can be folded up. 
  • The washbasin is accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be viewed while sitting or standing.

Shower

  • The shower is accessible without steps. 
  • The shower area is 100 cm x 120 cm.
  • There are grab bars in the shower.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if needed (fixed, folding, hook-in or mobile and stable).

  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • The entrance is visually contrasted to the surroundings. There is a tactile perceptible change of floor covering.
  • There are no carousel or rotary doors.
  • Glass doors are partially provided with safety markings.
  • Rooms and corridors are illuminated bright and glare-free.
  • Control elements are tactilely detectable almost everywhere and partially visually rich in contrast.
  • Paths are visually rich in contrast and tactilely detectable almost everywhere. The walls can be used as orientation guideline almost everywhere.
  • Signs are designed in well legible font.
  • There are no obstacles, e.g objects protruding into the path/room.
  • There is no guidance system (e.g. floor indicators) in indoor and outdoor areas.

  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In the evaluated rooms, there is no freely available outlet near the bed.
  • WiFi is available in the public areas.
  • Information for orientation is provided in written form.
  • In the dining room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, where there are no lamps that restrict the field of vision.
  • There are no seating areas with low background noises.

  • The name and logo of the establishment are clearly visible from the outside at the entrance.
  • The destination of the path is usually within sight. There is no uninterrupted guidance system or signs at a visible distance.
  • A business card with the address and telephone number of the youth hostel is displayed at the reception desk.
  • There is no information in easy language or photorealistic representation.
  • There is no menu. The dishes are not presented visibly.
