Landshut Youth Hostel

Description

The youth hostel, designed in Biedermeier style, is part of the old town fortifications and was built in 1839 on a terrace above the old town. The house is located halfway between the Gothic town centre of Landshut and Trausnitz Castle. From the courtyard there is a magnificent view of the castle and St. Martin's Church.   • There are two unmarked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 400 cm x 700 cm).
  • The path from the car park to the entrance is 30 m long. It is easy to walk and drive on.
  • The bus stop „Obere Altstadt“. is 500 m away.
  • The building is steplessly accessible via a ramp.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via a ramp.
  • The ramp has a maximum gradient of 6 % and a total length of 9 m (intermediate landings available).
  • Almost all evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 90 cm wide. Exception: The door to bedroom 23 a (ground floor) is/are 82 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is at its lowest point 71 cm high.
  • There are 15 wheelchair accessible tables available in the dining / breakfast room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).

Bedroom 23 a (double room, ground floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of/behind the door 100 cm x 140 cm;
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 160 cm x 140 cm; right of the bed 140 cm x 210 cm; on the right is the bed on the wall.
  • The bed is 45 cm high. Bunk bed

Bedroom 23 b (double room, ground floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of/behind the door 100 cm x 247 cm;
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 340 cm x 192 cm;
    left of the bed 192 cm x 210 cm;
    on the right is the bed on the wall.
  • The bed is 45 cm high. Bunk bed

Bedroom 21 (multi-bed room, ground floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of/behind the door 140 cm x 190 cm;
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 495 cm x 168 cm;
    left of the bed 220 cm x 210 cm;
    on the right is the bed on the wall.
  • The bed is 41 cm high.
  • There is a single bed and 2 bunk beds (5 beds in total). Evaluated was the single bed.

Shared Shower/ Public toilet for people with disabilities (ground floor)

  • The door opens inwards.
  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
  • 190 cm x 140 cm in front of the WC; 100 cm x 170 cm in front of the washbasin;
  • to the right of the WC 160 cm x 30 cm; the WC cannot be accessed from the left.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. The grab rail to the right of the toilet can be flipped-up.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible.
  • The mirror is visible when standing and sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without a threshold and is at least 95 cm x 150 cm in size.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if required.
  • There are grab rails in the shower.
  • There is no alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed in relevant areas/rooms.
  • External paths usually have visually contrasting or tactilely detectable sidewalk boundaries.
  • The entrance is visually rich in contrast.
  • Almost all evaluated and usable areas for the guest are well illuminated, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible and contrasting font.
  • There are glass doors without safety markings in height from 40-70 cm and 120-160 cm.
  • Stairs are available. Steps are not visually rich in contrast.
  • Stairs have a handrail on one side.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic font.
  • Offered aids: reading aids (reading glasses, magnifying glasses, etc.)

  • There is no clearly visible alarm.
  • There is no audio induction loop system.
  • In the dining /breakfast room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, but none on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact.
  • There is no seating area with low background noises (e.g. corner seating, separate room).
  • In bedrooms 23 a / b (double room) and bedroom 21 (multi-bed room) is at least one electrical outlet available near the bed in all evaluated rooms.
  • The ringing or knocking on the door is not indicated by a flashing signal which can be detected in all rooms.
  • WiFi is offered.
