With the DJH youth hostel Hof you will experience relaxed and eventful vacations near the Franconian Forest and the Fichtel Mountains, a paradise for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers.

How about a vacation "in Bavaria at the top"? Let's go to Hof! There's a lot to explore in Hof. Start right in the middle, with one of the most important historical city centers of our country. Continue on to Theresienstein, Germany's oldest civic park, and then into the gorgeous surrounding countryside. The city in the north of Bavaria welcomes you to our modern DJH youth hostel with 87 beds, divided into single to ten-bed rooms, rooms for chaperones or families with shower/WC or washing facilities. Dining room (85 seats), two common rooms (10/25 seats), party cellar, one seminar room, one table tennis room, one TV room and one drying room. At the hostel there is a volleyball court, a basketball hoop, a barbecue area, two table tennis tables, a pool table, a dartboard and a children's playground. The house is accessible at ground level via a ramp. All rooms on the first floor are accessible for wheelchair users. However, suitable sheep rooms for wheelchair users are not available.

  • There is a general car park in front of the hostel premises. There are no marked parking spaces for people with disabilities. The distance from the car park to the entrance gate is 30 m. The car park and the path to the entrance gate are not easy to walk and drive on due to the surface condition. The maximum longitudinal slope of the path is 8% over a distance of 5 metres. There is a 5 cm high threshold at the entrance gate for pedestrians. 
  • The path from the entrance gate to the entrance of the youth hostel is 25 m long and easy to walk and drive on.
  • The entrance can be reached via 5 steps with a handrail. Alternatively, there is a 5 m long mobile ramp with an 18 % incline and a usable walking width of 101 cm. Use at your own risk.
  • The reception desk is 100 cm high. There is no possibility of communication while seated.
  • The raised rooms on the ground floor that can be used by guests are accessible without steps or via a ramp, the areas on the upper floor and basement are only accessible via stairs with handrails. 
  • Doors and passageways are at least 70 cm wide (exceptions: doors in the public WC with a width of 54 cm). 
  • There are no revolving or rotating doors. 
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables in the dining room.
  • There is no public toilet designed for people with disabilities. The widths of the cabin doors are 54 cm.

Room 13 (double bed room) on the ground floor 

  • The door to the room is 81 cm wide. 
  • The movement areas in the bedroom are
    200 cm x 135 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings,
    to the left of the bed 135 cm x 200 cm, to the right the bed is against the wall. 
  • The height of the bed is 45 cm. The bed can be moved under at a height of 26 cm.
  • There is a washbasin in the room. 
  • The sanitary room in the corridor is shared by this room. There is no toilet designed for people with disabilities. There is no shower on the ground floor.

Room 121 (shared room) on the 1st floor 

  • The door to the room is 80 cm wide.
  • The movement areas in the bedroom are
    at least 150 cm x 150 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings,
    133 cm x 200 cm to the left of the bed, the bed is against the wall on the right. 
  • The height of the bed is 45 cm. The bed can be moved under at a height of 26 cm.
  • There is no toilet designed for people with disabilities. 
  • There is a public toilet, which is accessible with max. one step and has a door width of 70 cm.

  • Assistance dogs may be brought along.
  • The entrance to the youth hostel is visually contrasting to the surroundings. 
  • Glass doors are not marked with safety markings. 
  • Interior and exterior staircases do not have contrasting step surfaces. Handrails are present. 
  • There are no obstacles, e.g. objects protruding into the path/room. 
  • Information is provided in clearly legible lettering.
  • All raised areas that can be used by guests are usually brightly lit and glare-free (exceptions: basement with party and recreation room). 
  • Control elements and walkways are tactilely detectable everywhere and are visually contrasting almost everywhere. The walls can usually be used as orientation guides.
  • A continuous guidance system (e.g. floor indicators) is not available.

  • There is no visually perceptible alarm in the building. 
  • An inductive looping system is not available.
  • Information is available in written form.
  • There are bright and glare-free tables in the dining room, with no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the field of vision. Seating areas with low ambient noise are not available. 
  • In room 13 on the ground floor, at least one freely available socket is available near the bed, but not in room 112 on the 1st floor. 
  • Wi-Fi is offered.

  • The name and logo of the establishment are not clearly visible at the entrance to the youth hostel. 
  • Business cards/brochures with the host's address and telephone number are visibly displayed at the reception.
  • There is no information in plain language. Information is not presented with pictograms or pictures.
  • There is no colour or pictorial guidance system.
  • The destinations of the paths are mostly within sight or there is an interruption-free path guidance system.
