Description

The youth hostel with its 141 beds is located on the edge of Trausnitz with a wonderful view over the Pfreimdtal valley.

Medieval castle idyll in Trausnitz - Trausnitz is the insider's tip for all medieval fans: on the edge of the idyllic village proudly rises the castle in which part of the youth hostel is housed.t. Baking bread, making candles, blacksmithing - medieval crafts are on the program. A variety of building blocks on the theme of the Middle Ages will take you back to the time of knights and damsels in the courtyard of Trausnitz Castle. During the Christmas season, the historical Christmas market attracts visitors every two years, and during the year there are numerous medieval-reloaded programs. Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There are no marked parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The path from the car park to the entrance is 30 m long.
  • The path from the car park to the entrance is easy to walk and drive on.
  • Outdoor paths inside the castle are not easy to walk and drive on (historical pavement).
  • Access to the buildings is exclusively via steps:
    • for registration via one step in the outdoor area as well as two steps in indoor area without handrail,
    • to house Feldschlößl via one step without handrail,
    • to the Burgtrakt Kemenate via one step without handrail,
    • to the Burgtrakt Rittersaal via four steps with handrail
  • The reception is 105 cm high. There is an equivalent communication possibility in a sitting position.
  • The evaluated areas in the basement and 1st floor (Feldschlößl house and Burgtrakt) as well as on the 3rd floor (Burgtrakt) can only be reached via stairs with handrails.
  • Doors are at least 80 cm wide (exceptions: doors to sanitary rooms: 58 cm to 80 cm)
  • There are no carousel or rotary doors.
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the dining room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm). 

Room 004 (multi-bedroom) with shared shower in the Feldschlößl house, 1st floor

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:  
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 200 cm x 200 cm;  
    right of the bed 230 cm x 200 cm; on the left is the bed on the wall.  
  • The bed is 40 cm high.
  • A nursing bed is not available.

Room 005 (multi-bedroom) with shower, toilet in the Feldschlößl house, 1st floor

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:  
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 200 cm x 370 cm;  
    right of the bed 125 cm x 200 cm; left of the bed 60 cm x 140 cm.  
  • The bed is 40 cm high.
  • A nursing bed is not available.
  • The bathroom is not designed for people with disabilities (very small manoeuvring spaces, no grab rails, etc.).

Room 006 (multi-bedroom) with shower, toilet in the Feldschlößl house, 1st floor

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:  
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 150 cm x 300 cm;  
    right of the bed 125 cm x 200 cm; left of the bed 141 cm x 230 cm, on the right is the bed on the wall. 
  • The bed is 40 cm high.
  • A nursing bed is not available.
  • The bathroom is not designed for people with disabilities (very small manoeuvring spaces, no grab rails, etc.).

Shared showers and toilets for room 004 in the Feldschlößl house, 1st floor

  • Shower rooms and toilets are available separately for men and women.
  • The door widths to the toilets are 60 cm to 80 cm. There are no toilets designed for people with disabilities.
  • The height of the shower tray to the floor at ground level is 21 cm. The shower area is 78 cm x 78 cm.
  • There is no shower chair nor grab handles.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • External paths usually have visually contrasting and tactilely detectable sidewalk boundaries.
  • The entrances are visually rich in contrast.
  • All evaluated and usable areas for the guest are well illuminated, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • There are no visually contrasting or tactilely detectable floor indicators available.
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible and contrasting font.
  • There are glass doors without safety markings.
  • Steps are not visually rich in contrast.
  • Stairs have at least a handrail on one side. Exception: some steps in the outdoor area do not have a handrail.
  • The menu font in the dining room is straightforward and visually rich in contrast.
  • There is a menu in large print, but none in braille.
  • Aids offered: reading aids (reading glasses, magnifying glasses, etc.)

  • There is no visual alarm.
  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In the dining room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps that restrict the field of vision or eye contact. There are no seating areas with low background noises.
  • In the evaluated rooms at least one electrical outlet is available near the bed.

  • Name and logo of the Youth hostel are clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • The objectives of the paths are always within sight or signs in visible distance are available.
  • There is no information available in easy language. 
  • There is menu with pictures available and the dishes are visibly presented (buffet, bar).
