Description

The Youth Center Burg Feuerstein in the Archdiocese of Bamberg offers various learning programs for school classes and groups. The facility has 47 multi-bed rooms, group and seminar rooms, outdoor facilities with sports fields, a low and high ropes course, an indoor hall and church rooms. One-day and multi-day programs are offered in experiential education, action-oriented learning, nature experiences and ecology. Activities such as climbing in the high ropes course or archery are part of the program.

  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities. 
  • Access to the building is step-free with the help of a ramp. Ramps have a maximum longitudinal slope of 14%.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used are accessible via an elevator, a stair platform and a lift.  
  • The elevator car is 145 cm x 145 cm. The elevator door is 110 cm wide.
  • There is a stair platform lift. The platform is 91 cm wide and 200 cm deep.
  • There is an elevator lift. The platform is 86 cm wide and 200 cm deep.
  • Doors are at least 85 cm wide.
  • The counter is 92 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • The following assistive devices are provided: Wheelchair, walker.

Room no. 305 with bathroom

  • The room is a multi-bed room. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 214 cm x 330 cm;
    to the left of the bed 214 cm x 174 cm;
    there are no manoeuvring spaces to the right of the bed
  • The bed is 44 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are  
    in front of the sink 247 cm x 180 cm;
    in front of the toilet 240 cm x 180 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 170 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 30 cm x 70 cm. 
  • There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The shower is steplessly accessible. The shower area is 145 cm x 145 cm.
  • There are grab rails and a shower seat.

WC for people with disabilities at the church

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the sink 190 cm x 150 cm;
    in front of the toilet 153 cm x 170 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 30 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 190 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet. 
  • The grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the facility/offer.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • The stop position is not announced by voice.
  • The operating elements are designed with high visual contrast. 
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible lettering. 
  • There is good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background.

  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • There is at least one freely available power socket near the bed.
  • An inductive hearing system is available in the conference room (blue room).
  • Pre-registration for the tour, or the educational program is required. The tour guides are trained to conduct a tour for deaf people in German sign language.
