The Irmengard-Hof - the aftercare and recreation house of the Björn Schulz Foundation for families with seriously and chronically ill children as well as children with disabilities at Lake Chiemsee.

In a beautiful location, directly on the shores of Lake Chiemsee, the Irmengard-Hof of the Björn Schulz Foundation is the perfect place for a time-out in the Chiemgau. The lovingly renovated three-sided farm is a recreational home for families with seriously and chronically ill children as well as children with disabilities. The 24, mostly accessible designed rooms, offer space for the whole family. The family rooms are divided into parent and child rooms. The rooms can be adapted to the individual needs of the families with nursing beds, baby cribs, infusion stands, etc. Fully equipped kitchens with comfortable seating areas are available to families during their stay. Ample parking is available. The Irmengard-Hof holds many recreational opportunities for young and old: whether play hall, craft room, bouldering wall - variety is provided. The spacious outdoor area with playground and soccer field invites you to play and romp. In addition, there are ponies and donkeys at the Irmengard farm, which are happy about the visit of the guests. Numerous excursion possibilities for the whole family are in the immediate vicinity of the farm.

  • The nearest bus stop is approx. 500 m away. 
  • There are 20 parking spaces for people with disabilities (space size: 350 cm x 500 cm, distance to entrance area approx. 40 m).
  • Access to the north entrance (north wing) is via a door threshold of 1.3 cm with door automation, the south entrance (south wing) via a threshold of 2.5 cm height with door automation.
  • Almost all rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for guests are accessible at ground level or via ramps, lifts or a stair platform lift. 
  • The ramps indoors have a maximum gradient of 7 up to 20%. 
  • Stair lift platforms are 75 cm x 84 cm or 74 cm x 100 cm . 
  • The lift cars are at least 140 cm x 240 cm or 120 cm 140 cm. The lift doors are at least 90 cm wide. 
  • All doors/passages that can be used by the guest and are raised are at least 80 cm wide. 
  • The reception is 76 cm high at the lowest point.
  • There are 15 tables in the restaurant that are accessible by wheelchair (maximum height 80 cm, accessible by wheelchair at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
  • The dining table has limited wheelchair access.
  • The work surface in the kitchen, the sink and the cooker are not wheelchair accessible.
  • Available aids: 11 nursing beds, wheelchair on loan, personal lift for bathtub, shower stretcher, personal lift for nursing beds (room), shower and toilet chairs, infusion stands, massage tables, two medical refrigerators. 

Room No. 6 in the south wing (ground floor): Familiyroom incl. Care or Children's bedrooms

  • The clear passage width of the room and bathroom door is 82 cm. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the family room are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 200 cm x 200 cm;
    to the left of the bed 109 cm x 173 cm;
    to the right of the bed 200 cm x 173 cm.
  • The bed is 50 cm high. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the nursing or children's bedroom are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 140 cm x 200 cm;
    to the left of the bed 130 cm x 200 cm;
    on the right, the bed is against the wall.
  • However, beds/care beds are mobile.
  • The nursing or children's bedroom is individually equipped with beds as required. 
  • The bed is 41 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:  
    in front of the sink 180 cm x 130 cm;
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 139 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 102 cm x 71 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 144 cm x 71 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without steps. 
  • The shower area is 144 cm x 198 cm.
  • Grab rails are provided in the shower.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if required (permanently installed, foldable, hook-in or mobile and stable).

Room no. 24 in the south wing (1st attic): Parent/carer room with Care or Children's bedrooms

  • The manoeuvring spaces in the parent/carer room are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 161 cm x 139 cm;
    to the left of the bed 139 cm x 173 cm;
    to the right of the bed 200 cm x 173 cm.
  • The bed is 49 cm high. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the nursing or children's bedroom are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 100 cm x 200 cm;
    200 cm x 200 cm to the left of the bed;
    on the right, the bed is against the wall.
  • However, beds/care beds are mobile.
  • The bed is 40 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:  
    in front of the sink 141 cm x 133 cm;
    in front of the toilet 141 cm x 133 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 124 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 27 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without steps.
  • The shower area is 132 cm x 127 cm.
  • There are grab rails in the shower.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if required (permanently installed, foldable, hook-in or mobile and stable).
  • In addition, there is a care bathroom with a lifting bathtub on the 1st floor.

  • The door is at least 119 cm wide.
    The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the sink 189 cm x 200 cm;
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 200 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 97 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 200 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

Public toilet at the North wing (ground floor)

  • The door is at least 94 cm wide.
  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the sink 141 cm x 155 cm;
    in front of the toilet 155 cm x 52 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 132 cm x 71 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 41 cm x 71 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The left grab rail can be flipped-up.
  • The sink is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs may be brought to the establishment. 
  • The entrances are visually rich in contrast and recognizable by a tactile change of floor covering. 
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible and contrasting font. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevators is confirmed audibly, but the stopping position is not announced by speech.
  • The first and last steps of stairs have no visually contrasting edges with the horizontal and vertical step surfaces.
  • There is no information in Braille or prismatic writing.

  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In the case of an acoustic alarm (e.g. fire alarm) there is no clearly perceptible flash light or flash signal.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed audibly, but not visibly. Alternatively, stairs are available.
  • There is at least one free electrical outlet in the rooms near the bed.
  • Knocking at the room door is not indicated by an optical signal.
  • WIFI access is available for communication with the service staff at a charge.
