All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There are three parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The Haus der Bayrischen Geschichte bus stop is 40 meters away. 
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via an escalator or elevator. 
  • All doors/passages that can be used and are raised are at least 90 cm wide.
  • Exhibits and information are mainly visible from a seated position.
  • In the permanent exhibition, wheelchair-compatible screen tables are available.
  • The museum cash desk is 115 cm high. There is no alternative way of communicating while seated.
  • Seating is available.
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm). The grab rails on the toilet can be flipped-up.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Advance booking is necessary. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easily legible and high-contrast lettering.
  • All elevated areas that can be used by guests are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically.
  • The stopping position is announced by voice in the elevator.
  • Stairs have visually contrasting edges on at least the first and last step.
  • Stairs have handrails on both sides.
  • The exhibits are well lit.
  • Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast.
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed acoustically or tactilely (Braille, prismatic lettering).
  • There is a tactile model of the museum, as well as vertical tactile maps and a paper map.
  • There are various hands-on, touch and smell stations. 
  • Orientation information is available in Braille and acoustically.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Advance booking is necessary. 
  • Touch exhibits are integrated during the guided tours.

  • An inductive hearing system is available in the foyer, in the panorama cinema and in the Donausaal. 
  • Information is provided in writing.
  • Information must be provided in sign language. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically. Alternatively, stairs are available.
  • Information about the exhibits is provided in writing and in photorealistic form.
  • A multimedia guide in sign language is available.
  • There are technical options for conveying information to deaf people.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments and deaf people (in German sign language). Advance booking is necessary.  
  • Guided tours with FM equipment are available for people with hearing impairments (e.g. headphones, neckloops).
