Information on accessibility

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users".
Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.
- There are four parking spaces for people with disabilities.
- All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via a ramp, elevator or lift.
- All doors/passages and paths that can be used by guests and are raised are at least 90 cm wide. The exception is the lift (width: 82 cm).
- Exhibits and information are usually visible from a seated position.
- The checkout counter is 78 cm high at its lowest point. There is an alternative way of communicating while seated.
- Seating is available.
- There is a public WC for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
- Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Advance booking is necessary.
- Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour.
People with visual impairments and blind people

- Assistance dogs are welcome.
- The signage (for orientation) is designed in easy-to-read, high-contrast lettering.
- Almost all areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
- Important “walkways” in the room are visually rich in contrast.
- An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically.
- Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.
- Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast.
- Information about the exhibits is conveyed acoustically.
- Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing.
- Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments, but not for blind people. Advance booking is necessary.
- Touch exhibits are integrated during the guided tours.
People with hearing impairments and deaf people

- There is no audio induction system available.
- An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is only confirmed acoustically. Alternatively, stairs are available.
- Information about the exhibits is provided in writing or in photorealistic form.
- Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments and deaf people (in German sign language). Advance booking is necessary.
- Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments, but not for deaf people. Advance booking is necessary.
People with cognitive impairments

- The name of the Granitzentrum is clearly recognizable from the outside.
- The destinations of the paths are within sight or there are signs at a constantly visible distance.
