Gallery District of Upper Bavaria
Description
The Gallery District of Upper Bavaria is an inclusive and accessible place to experience contemporary art with changing exhibitions and an art education program for everyone.
It is located directly opposite the "Haus der Kunst", in the immediate vicinity of the English Garden and the "Eisbachwelle" in Munich. “Art inclusive!” makes art easily accessible for everyone. The exhibitions of contemporary art are accessible, with inclusive exhibition videos and a diverse art program: “Understanding art!” tactile tours with original works, “Understanding art!” guided tours in easy-to-understand language, “Join in with art!” Creative workshops and “Show art!” Museum Signers guided tours in German sign language with translation for hearing people.

- There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities.
- All rooms and facilities that can be used and are raised for the guest are stepless/level or accessible by elevator.
- All doors/passages that can be used by guests and are raised are at least 90 cm wide.
- The counter is 75 cm high.
- Exhibits and information can mainly be viewed while seated.

- The signage (for orientation) is designed in easy-to-read, high-contrast lettering.
- There is a good contrast between the lettering and pictograms on the signage.
- All areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
- There are visually high-contrast and tactile floor indicators at the entrance.
- An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically. The stopping position is announced by voice in the elevator.
- The first and last steps of a staircase are fitted with horizontal and vertical contrasting edges. Stairs have handrails on both sides.
- The exhibits are well lit. Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast.
- Information about the exhibits is also conveyed tactilely (Braille, prismatic lettering). There is a tactile map with Braille for the exhibition.
- Inclusive exhibition videos with transcription are available.
- Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Advance booking is required.
- During the guided tours, tactile exhibits are integrated.
