All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There is a parking lot for people with disabilities.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via a ramp or elevator. 
  • All doors/passages and paths that can be used by guests are at least 70 cm wide.
  • Exhibits and information are mainly visible from a seated position.
  • Seating is available.
  • There is a public WC for people with disabilities that can be accessed from one side (at least 80 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.   
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Advance booking is necessary. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easy-to-read, high-contrast lettering.
  • All areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically.
  • Stairs have a handrail on at least one side. The steps have different heights: between 16 and 20 cm. 
  • Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast.
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed acoustically or tactilely (Braille). A brochure in Braille is available.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Advance booking is necessary. 
  • During the guided tours, tactile exhibits are integrated.

  • An audio induction system is available. 
  • Information is provided in writing.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is only confirmed acoustically. Alternatively, stairs are available. 
  • Information about the exhibits is provided in writing.
  • Audio stations with QR code directly to the hearing aid, volume individually adjustable. Additional QR code with transcripts and films (subtitled). 
  • Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments, but not for deaf people. Advance booking is required.  
  • Guided tours with FM equipment are available for people with hearing impairments (e.g. headphones, neckloops).

  • The name of the museum is clearly recognizable from the outside. 
  • The destinations of the paths are within sight or there are signs at a constantly visible distance. 
  • Information on the exhibits is provided in part with photorealistic illustrations. A brochure in simple language is available.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments. Advance booking is necessary.  
  • The contents (e.g. exhibits) of the guided tour for people with cognitive impairments are easy to understand or are explained in an easy-to-understand way (e.g. pictorially).
