Franconian Open Air Museum Fladungen
Description
In the Franconian Open Air Museum Fladungen, visitors can experience the past rural way of building, working and living from all of Lower Franconia and the neighbouring Rhön in Hesse and Rhön in Thuringia on a 12-hectare site. You can expect more than 20 restored agricultural estates and community buildings as well as theme gardens, orchards, fields and pastures. Public transport and parking
- The museum bus stop is about 150 m from the museum entrance.
- There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities (space size: 450 cm x 600 cm).
- The car park is 25 m from the entrance.
- On the way between the car park and the museum entrance, a kerb 3.5 cm high must be negotiated.
Museum entrance, ticket office and shop
- The entrance/access to the building is step-free (max. 2 cm threshold).
- Doors are at least 92 cm wide.
- The counter is 80 cm high at the lowest point.
Paths in the Open Air Museum
- The 12-hectare site is largely at ground level and, for the most part, has a low-vibration surface that is easy to walk and drive on.
- Most of the outdoor paths have a maximum longitudinal gradient of up to 6%. However, there are also paths with a maximum longitudinal slope of up to 12%.
- The paths are mostly 200 cm wide, the minimum width is 150 cm.
- There are mainly seating areas along the paths.
Herb garden
- The herb garden is accessible without steps.
- The paths in the herb garden are step-free and at least 90 cm wide.
- There are raised beds that are impassable.
- The exhibits and information are visible, perceptible, legible or recognisable while seated.
Museum buildings at a glance, services, guided tours and app
- A large part of the museum buildings is only accessible via stairs and steps or via doors with passage widths of less than 70 cm and low door heights.
- Some areas and buildings are designed to be inclusive, in particular the Büttnerei and the herb garden.
- The following aids are offered: 'wheelchair,'.
- Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Pre-registration for the tour is required.
- The entire route of the guided tour is step-free for wheelchair users.
- Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities to use during the tour.
- The museum train is not step-free accessible, there are no wheelchair spaces available.

Community brewery barn from Alsleben
- The barn is accessible without steps (max. 2 cm threshold).

- The upper floor is only accessible via stairs.
Residential house and farmstead from Bahra
- The dwelling house is only accessible via 10 steps.

Bee house from Fladungen
- The bee house is accessible via one step with a height of 13 cm.
- Passages and doors are at least 70 cm wide.

Courtyard from Mühlfeld
- Access is step-free via a ramp. The ramp has a maximum gradient of 23 %.
- The narrowest passage is at least 128 cm wide.

Catholic curate church from Leutershausen
- The church is only accessible via three steps.
- Passages and doors are at least 150 cm wide.

- Access is possible via one step with a height of 17 cm.
- Passages and doors are at least 78 cm wide.

Telephone box from Oerlenbach
- Stories can be heard via the telephone receiver. The same information can also be accessed via the app.
- Access is possible via a step with a height of 7 cm.
- The door is 61 cm wide.
Three-sided courtyard from Leutershausen
- The Dreiseithof is accessible without steps
- The paths in the Dreiseithof are not easy to walk or drive on (cobblestones).
- Access to the action barn is possible without steps.
- The residential house ("house to touch") is only accessible via steps.
- The exhibits are mainly visible, perceptible and recognisable from a seated position.
- The information on the exhibits can mainly be read while sitting down.
Village school from Krausenbach
- The village school is only accessible via seven steps.
- There is a door threshold with a height of 3 cm.
- Doors and passages are at least 77 cm wide.

Museum inn "Zum Schwarzen Adler" Fladungen
- The inn is accessible without steps (max. 2 cm threshold).

- Assistance dogs may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms.
- The entrance area to the museum is visually contrasting to the surroundings and recognisable by a tactilely perceptible change of flooring.
- Exterior walkways usually have a visually contrasting and tactilely detectable walkway border.
- Although there is no continuous guidance system with floor indicators throughout the site and in the majority of the buildings, there is a tactile floor guidance system and a tactile overview plan as well as Braille and relief writing boards in the herb garden and the Büttner workshop. There are touch stations (hands-on stations), smelling stations and listening stations in the Büttner House and herb garden. The information is high-contrast and easy to read.
- Stairs and steps are not designed with high contrast. Most of the stairs have at least one handrail, but there are also stairs without handrails.

- Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Pre-registration for the tour is required.
- There are three WC facilities designed for people with disabilities (ticket office area, museum restaurant and action barn).

- There is no audio induction loop system.
- In the event of an acoustic alarm (e.g. fire alarm), there is no visually clearly perceptible flashing or blinking signal.
- Guided tours are offered for people with hearing disabilities. Pre-registration for the guided tour is necessary.
- There are no guided tours in German sign language or with FM equipment (e.g. headphones, neck ring loops).
- There are touch stations (hands-on stations), smelling stations and listening stations in the Büttner House and Herb Garden. There is also a film in the Büttnerhaus with German Sign Language (DGS).
