A short escape from everyday life - the spa in Bavaria offers you a wide range of wellness treatments and offers that relax and strengthen body and soul at the same time. With its 3,000 m² spa landscape, the Europa Therme is one of the best-known and most beautiful spas in Bavaria. Guests can relax in 17 different pools ranging from 27 degrees C to 40 degrees C 365 days a year.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There is a bus stop 50 m away. 
  • There are 12 designated parking spaces for people with disabilities in the underground car park (space size 230 cm x 510 cm). 
  • The entrance/access to the building is step-free (max. 2 cm threshold, via a ramp).
  • Almost all rooms and facilities that can be used by guests and are elevated are accessible without steps or via an elevator. Door thresholds are max. 2 cm high. Exceptions are among others gallery in the thermal area, vital massage area (only accessible via stairs).
  • The ramp is at least 160 cm wide and has a maximum longitudinal incline of 5 %.
  • Lift cars are at least 90 cm x 97.
  • Doors are at least 80 cm wide with the exception of some sauna doors. 
  • The counter at the entrance to the bathing area is 102 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • The ticket counter, cash desk and prescription desk is 105 cm high. 
  • The counter in the sauna area is 117 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • There is a passenger lift and flat steps with handrails to access the various swimming and bathing pools. 
  • The doors of the steam grotto in the sauna area are 93 cm wide, those of the solar cabins 83 cm wide and those of the steam grotto in the bathing area 74 cm wide. In the other saunas, the door widths are less than 70 cm. 
  • In the catering area, wheelchair accessible tables (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm with a depth of 30 cm) are available. 
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, rollator, sauna wheelchair

Changing cubicle, toilet and shower for people with disabilities in the thermal pool area

  • There are a total of three changing rooms for people with disabilities in this area. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the changing area are at least 200 cm x 200 cm. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the toilet are:
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 200 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 11 cm x 56 cm;
    115 cm x 56 cm to the right of the toilet.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The shower is accessible without steps. 
  • The shower / shower area is 200 cm x 200 cm.
  • There are grab rails in the shower.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if required (fixed, folding, hook-in or mobile and stable).
  • Alarm triggers are available.

Public toilet for people with disabilities in the sulphur gas bath area.

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the sink 180 cm x 200 cm;
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 108 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 103 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 70 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The right grab rail can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) are not allowed. 
  • The entrance area is recognisable by a tactilely perceptible change of floor covering and visually contrasted with the surroundings. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • The operating elements (e.g. door handles, light switches, emergency call buttons) are tactilely detectable and visually contrasting almost everywhere.
  • There are no floor indicators.
  • Almost all raised areas that can be used by guests (entrance area, cash desk/counter, bedrooms, corridors, hallways) are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free. 
  • There are flat steps with handrails to access the various swimming and bathing pools. 
  • The signage is clearly legible. There is a good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background.

  • There is no audio induction loop system at the reception/counter. 
  • In case of an acoustic alarm (e.g. fire alarm), there is a visually clearly perceptible flashing or blinking signal.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom, but not visually. 
  • There are flat steps with handrails to enter the various swimming or bathing pools. 
  • In the catering area, there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting where there are no lamps or hanging lamps that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact.

  • The name or logo of the business/facility is clearly recognisable from the outside. 
  • The counters of the reception and checkout areas are directly visible from the entrance door or the way to them is marked pictorially and without interruption.
  • There is no information in easy language.
