Dragon cave Furth im Wald
Description
Since 2010, Furth im Wald has been home to a truly extraordinary attraction: the world’s largest four-legged walking robot, officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records. Its home is the Dragon Cave, located directly next to the newly built Park Arena, which opened in 2025.
During a tour of the Dragon Cave, visitors can discover fascinating insights into the history of dragons in Furth im Wald, the long-standing folk play Der Drachenstich (“The Dragon Slaying”), and the impressive technology behind this unique walking robot.
The Furth Dragon is breathtaking in scale: 5 metres high and 16 metres long, spectacularly staged for visitors. With realistic movements, expressive facial features, and metre-long bursts of fire from its jaws, the dragon comes vividly to life.
This technical masterpiece was developed through a collaboration between Hollywood special-effects experts, aerospace engineers, leading German robotics companies, and regional partners. The result is a one-of-a-kind attraction that combines cutting-edge technology, tradition, and fascination.
Experience the Furth Dragon live in action during the presentation “Der Further Drache - der Mythos lebt!” Tickets can be purchased directly at the entrance to the Dragon Cave or conveniently booked online.
Designated parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are available directly beside the cave. The entrance area is clearly signposted, and step-free access is provided. Ample seating is available throughout the Dragon Cave and the outdoor grounds. Information panels and exhibits are well lit and easy to read. Audio guides are available free of charge. Guided tours for visitors with mobility impairments and wheelchair users can be arranged upon request and advance booking.
