Numerous  installations, interactive activity stations and bookable laboratory  offers make it possible to experience our path into the future.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • The nearest bus stop "Weintraubengasse" is about 150 away.  
  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities (100 m from the entrance).
  • One parking space is at least 350 cm wide and 530 cm long.
  • The entrance/access to the building is step-free.  
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for the guest are accessible without steps or via a lift. Door thresholds are max. 2 cm high. 
  • Lift cars are at least 110 cm x 210. Lift doors are at least 90 cm wide.
  • Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide. 
  • The ticket counter is 85 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • The exhibits are predominantly visible, perceptible and recognisable from a seated position.
  • The following technical means of conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements.
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, mobile museum stools
  • The entire route of the guided tour is accessible to wheelchair users without steps. Advance booking for the guided tour is necessary. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities to use during the guided tour. 

Public toilet for people with disabilities (ground floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the sink 225 cm x 178 cm;
    in front of the toilet 220 cm x 180 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 88 cm x 80 cm;
    106 cm x 80 cm to the right of the toilet.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible.
  • The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the establishment/offer. 
  • There are glass doors with no safety markings at a height of 40-70 cm and 120-160 cm.
  • The entrance area is recognisable by a tactilely perceptible change of flooring.
  • The pavements in the corridors, on the paths to and from the lift, in the staircase area, in the entrance area, in the foyer etc. are tactilely detectable (floor indicators). There are no floor indicators in the exhibition rooms. 
  • All raised areas that can be used by guests (entrance area, cash desk/counter, bedrooms, corridors, hallways) are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • On stairs, at least the first and last steps have a visually contrasting edge.
  • Stairs have a handrail on at least one side. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • There is a visual contrast between the exhibits and the surroundings. The exhibits are generally well lit. 
  • The exhibit signage is visually contrasting.
  • There is acoustic information. Information can be perceived olfactorily. The following technical possibilities for conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements. 
  • The signage for orientation is designed in legible writing. There is a good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background. Numbers, letters (up to 4 characters) or pictograms can be read tactilely (e.g. relief or prismatic lettering).
  • Exhibits for touching are integrated during the guided tours.

  • There is no audio induction loop system at the ticket counter. 
  • There is no visually clearly perceptible alarm (e.g. in the case of a fire alarm). 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • The following technical possibilities for conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements. 
  • No guided tours with FM systems or in German Sign Language (DGS) are made possible.
  • Videos in German sign language and subtitles are available on the website.

  • The ticket counter/information desk is directly visible from the entrance door.  
  • There is an uninterrupted wayfinding system.

  • The following technical possibilities for conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements.  
  • Information for orientation is available in photorealistic presentation or in the form of pictograms.
  • The contents (e.g. exhibits) of the guided tour for people with cognitive impairments are easy to understand or are explained in an easy-to-understand way (e.g. pictorially).
  • There is no information available in easy language.
