Numerous  installations, interactive activity stations and bookable laboratory  offers make it possible to experience our path into the future.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • The nearest bus stop "Weintraubengasse" is about 150 away.  
  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities (100 m from the entrance).
  • One parking space is at least 350 cm wide and 530 cm long.
  • The entrance/access to the building is step-free.  
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for the guest are accessible without steps or via a lift. Door thresholds are max. 2 cm high. 
  • Lift cars are at least 110 cm x 210. Lift doors are at least 90 cm wide.
  • Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide. 
  • The ticket counter is 85 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • The exhibits are predominantly visible, perceptible and recognisable from a seated position.
  • The following technical means of conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements.
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, mobile museum stools
  • There is a public restroom for people with disabilities that is accessible from both sides (at least 80 cm). The grab bars in the restroom can be folded up.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users. Advance registration is required.
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with mobility impairments to use during the tour.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The entrance area is designed with high visual contrast.
  • The walkways in the hallways, on the paths to and from the elevator, in the stairwell, in the entrance area, in the foyer, etc., are detectable by touch (floor indicators). There are no floor indicators in the exhibition rooms. 
  • Signage (for wayfinding) is designed with clearly legible, high-contrast lettering.
  • All elevated areas accessible to visitors are illuminated with bright, glare-free lighting.
  • An emergency call made from the elevator is confirmed by an audible signal.
  • Stairs have visually high-contrast edges on at least the first and last steps. 
  • Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.
  • The exhibits are well lit.
  • Information about the exhibits is presented with high visual contrast.
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed audibly.
  • Information is perceptible through smell. The following technical options for conveying information are available: films, audio recordings, multimedia stations, and tactile elements 
  • Information is not available in raised print or Braille.  
  • Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Advance registration is required. 
  • Exhibits that can be touched are incorporated into the guided tours.

  • There is no audio induction loop system at the ticket counter. 
  • There is no visually clearly perceptible alarm (e.g. in the case of a fire alarm). 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lift is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system.
  • The following technical possibilities for conveying information are available: Films, audio texts, multimedia stations, tactile elements. 
  • No guided tours with FM systems or in German Sign Language (DGS) are made possible.
  • Videos in German sign language and subtitles are available on the website.

  • The ticket counter/information desk is directly visible from the entrance door.  
  • There is a continuous wayfinding system in place.

  • The following technical options for conveying information are available: films, audio descriptions, multimedia stations, and tactile elements  
  • Orientation information is available in photorealistic form or as pictograms.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments. Advance registration is required.  
  • The content (e.g., exhibits) of the guided tour for people with cognitive impairments is easy to understand or is explained in an easy-to-understand manner (e.g., using visuals).
