  • The nearest bus stop "Corneliusbrücke" is approx. 100 meters from the entrance. The nearest underground and S-Bahn stations are "Fraunhoferstrasse" (subway, approx. 450 meters) and "Isartor" (S-Bahn, approx. 750 meters).  
  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm).
  • The parking lot is 200 meters from the entrance.
  • The entrance/access to the building is stepless.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible or accessible via ramp, lift or elevator. 
  • Ramps are at least 140 cm wide and have a maximum longitudinal gradient of 6%.
  • The elevator cabins are at least 100 cm x 150 cm. The elevator doors are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The platform of the lifts is 90 cm wide and 300 cm deep.
  • Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The checkout counter is 80 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • The information counter is 82 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • The counter of the information station in the children's area is 75 cm high at its lowest point.
  • The exhibits are mainly visible, perceptible or recognizable when seated. 
  • The information on the exhibits can mainly be read while seated.
  • Wheelchair-compatible tables (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm with a depth of 30 cm) are available in the museum restaurant/café. 
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, mobile stool.
  • The following technical options are available for providing information: Apps available, movies available.
  • There is a dedicated app with accessible content.
  • The entire route of the tour is steplessly accessible for wheelchair users. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour.

Public WC (entrance building)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin 214 cm x 200 cm; in front of the WC 214 cm x 200 cm;
    to the left of the WC 106 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 113 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up. 
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen from a sitting or standing position.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

Public WC (Auditorium)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin 150 cm x 190 cm; in front of the WC 150 cm x 190 cm;
    to the left of the WC 114 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 100 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up. 
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be seen from a sitting or standing position.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

Public WC (level 2)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin 79 cm x 150 cm; in front of the WC 150 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the WC 99 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 100 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up. 
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.

Public WC (children's area)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin 165 cm x 165 cm; in front of the WC 165 cm x 165 cm;

  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up.

  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the establishment/offerings. 
  • The entrance area is recognisable by a tactilely perceptible change of flooring and visually contrasted with the surroundings. 
  • There are tactile floor guidance lines in the entrance building (from the entrance to the cash desk and information desk). There is no continuous guidance system with floor indicators. 
  • Stairs have handrails on both sides. The stairs are predominantly designed with high contrast. Alternatively, lifts are available.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the lifts is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system. 
  • The stopping position in the lifts is not announced by voice.
  • The operating elements in the lifts are designed to be visually contrasting and tactilely detectable.
  • All raised areas that can be used by the guest (entrance area, cash desk/counter, corridors, hallways) are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • Orientation plans with information for seeing, hearing and touching are available in the various exhibition areas. 
  • There is a visual contrast between the exhibits and the surroundings. 
  • The exhibits are generally well lit. 
  • The exhibit signage is predominantly visually contrasting. 
  • Some of the exhibits are accompanied by acoustic information.
  • Some of the information on the exhibits can be perceived olfactorily and tactilely (Braille, prismatic writing).
  • Tactile models, tactile reliefs or tactile graphics are available at many exhibits. Further information on the touch stations is provided by the Deutsches Museum app (audio offer and audio description).
  • The signage for the orinetisation is designed in easily legible lettering. There is a good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background. 
  • During the guided tours, tactile exhibits are integrated.

  • There is no visually clearly perceptible alarm (e.g. fire alarm).
  • There are audio induction loop systems at the information/cashier counter and at the microscopic theatre (optics), in each case during the demonstration of the model railway system, in the chemistry lecture theatre during programmes and in the children's area/workshop room during programmes.
  • An outgoing emergency call in lifts is confirmed acoustically but not visually.
  • At selected media stations (videos) there is content in German Sign Language (DGS). These are marked with the pictogram. 
  • Guided tours are offered in German Sign Language (DGS). 
  • Guided tours with FM equipment are made possible (e.g. headphones, neck ring loops).  
  • The museum app gives suggestions of tours through the museum. You can choose between: Simply Explained, Audio Description or in German Sign Language (DGS).
  • On the museum website there is information in German Sign Language (DGS): https://www.deutsches-museum.de/gebaerdensprache.
  • In the museum restaurant/café there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, where there are no lamps or hanging lamps that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact.

  • The name or logo of the business/facility is clearly recognisable from the outside.  
  • The cash desk and the information counter are directly visible from the entrance door.
  • Information on the exhibits is partly conveyed acoustically, is partly perceivable olfactorily and is presented photorealistically.
  • Information that serves orientation and consists of words is available in the form of pictograms.
  • The museum app gives suggestions of tours through the museum. A choice can be made: Simply Explained, audio description or sign language.  
  • The contents (e.g. exhibits) of the tour are easy to understand or are explained in an easy-to-understand way (e.g. pictorially).
