The heart of the Nuremberg exhibitions is a pnoramic sweep of rail history in Germany from its humble beginnings around 1800 up to the present day, and even taking a look at what the furture may have in store.

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.
- There are four marked parking space for people with impairments (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm, distance to the stairs at the main entrance: 10 m).
- The main entrance without thresholds can only be reached via the large open staircase. The two entrance doors (vestibule) open automatically.
- The step less side entrance (distance from the main entrance approx. 100 metres) can be reached via the courtyard. At the courtyard door there is a bell for wheelchair users. At the entrance to the building towards the foyer there is a 100 cm long ramp with 9 % longitudinal inclination and a maximum walking width of 109 cm.
- The counter is 115 cm high. There is a possibility of communication while sitting.
- All elevated rooms that available to the guest are infinitely variable and can be reached by lift, stair lift or ramp.
- All public doors and passageways are at least 90 cm wide (exception: toilet door and passageway width in vehicle hall I with 87 cm).
- The size of the elevator car is 92 cm x 128 cm. Operating elements are arranged on a horizontal control panel.
- The vehicle hall I in the basement can be reached with two identical stair platform lifts. The size of the platform is 100 cm x 78 cm.
- The vehicle hall II is located on the outdoor area (distance from vehicle hall I to vehicle hall II approx. 70 m). Due to its surface characteristics, the path is not easy to walk on and drive on (worn, defective pavement with embedded railway tracks). Bollards are available at a distance of 70 cm from each other.
- A 7.50 m long ramp with 4.5 % longitudinal inclination is available at the threshold-free entrance to vehicle hall II. Alternatively, there are two levels. The outdoor area with exhibits behind is accessible via a 13 m long ramp with 8.3 % longitudinal inclination.
- All exhibits and the corresponding information are mainly visible and readable while seated.
- Aids offered: Foldable stools
- Guided tours are offered for people with walking impairments and wheelchair users. A reservation is necessary. Seating is available. The entire route is continuously accessible for wheelchair users.
Public toilet for people with disabilities
- The door to the toilet cabin is 87 cm wide and opens to the side (sliding door).
- The manoeuvring space is as follows:
- in front of / behind the door 75 cm x 145 cm,
- in front of toilet 110 cm x 142 cm and in front of sink 115 cm x 140 cm,
- left of toilet 37 cm x 70 cm, right 81 cm x 70 cm,
- On both sides of the toilet there are fold-up handles.
- The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

- Assistance dogs are allowed.
- The main entrance is visually contrasted to the surrounding area and can be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.
- The entrance is accessible via a low-contrast staircase with 12 steps and handrails.
- The two glass entrance doors (vestibule) have no safety markings and open automatically.
- Stairs are not rich in contrast.
- Significant walkways in the exhibition rooms are usually not visually rich in contrast or tactilely detectable.
- Audio guides are available for information.
- Rooms and corridors are predominantly brightly lit and glare-free.
- Operating elements can be detected tactilely everywhere and are predominantly visually contrasting.
- Walkways are visually rich in contrast almost everywhere and partly marked with tactile markings. Some of the walls can be used as orientation aids.
- The signage is clearly designed in legible font, but not in Braille.
- There are some obstacles in the way, such as exhibit walls and showcases.
- There is no guidance system with ground indicators.
- Guided tours are offered for visually impaired and blind people. A reservation is necessary. Exhibits are available for keying.

- There is no visual alarm in the building.
- There is no inductive hearing aid available.
- In the elevator, an outgoing emergency call is confirmed audibly, not visibly.
- In the exhibition information about the exhibits will be provided in writing. Films are available for information purposes.
- No guided tours are offered to people with hearing impairment or deaf people.

- The company name and logo are clearly visible from the outside at the main entrance and in vehicle hall II.
- The exhibition contains information on the exhibits in photorealistic form.
- Information for orientation is not available in easy language.
- The goals of the paths are usually within sight. An uninterrupted guidance system is available in the exhibition rooms.
- Guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments. A reservation is necessary. The contents of the tour are explained in a way that is easy to understand.
