The Allgäu ART Hotel is a place of encounter, a place without barriers. For families, business travellers and people with or without a handicap. You can look forward to a relaxing holiday. 

The Allgäu ART Hotel is located in the centre of Kempten. A hotel with a special atmosphere and an extraordinary mix of Allgäu lifestyle, art and inclusion. Regional delicacies await guests in the hotel's own restaurant with winter garden. A beautiful garden terrace invites you to linger in comfort. All 56 double rooms, also for single use, some with balcony, are barrier-free. 15 of these rooms are wheelchair accessible. Six spacious family rooms with separate bedrooms for 3 or 4 people are equipped with a kitchenette and refrigerator. Three of the family rooms and 6 of the double rooms each have a nursing bed. A barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible fitness and wellness area is located on the roof. The offer is rounded off by the Allgäu Stube and the Snoezelen room, which invite you to relax. For active guests there is a climbing wall. The hotel is ideal for business travellers and conference participants, for people with disabilities - simply for everyone who wants to enjoy an unforgettable hotel stay.

  • There are three signposted parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The hotel is accessible without steps.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are accessible at ground level or via an elevator.
  • The elevator cabin is 112 cm x 210 cm. The elevator door is 90 cm wide. Notes for the guest: The elevator on the left has been raised. A second elevator (elevator on the right) is available - this one is slightly smaller.
  • Almost all doors and passageways surveyed are at least 90 cm wide (doors of public WCs maximum 80 cm).
  • The reception desk is 81 cm high at its lowest point. It is possible to communicate while seated.
  • There are wheelchair-compatible tables in the Waldbeere restaurant.
  • Aids available: height-adjustable care beds, lifts, raising aids, fall-out protection, all-terrain wheelchairs, draisine wheels

Room 314 (3rd floor, double room)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 200 cm x 113 cm;
    to the left of the bed 159 cm x 200 cm; to the right of the bed 81 cm x 200 cm.
  • The bed is 60 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
    in front of the washbasin and WC 170 cm x 220 cm;
    to the left of the WC 89 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 52 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet. Both grab rails can be folded up.
  • The washbasin has limited access. The mirror can be seen when sitting and standing.
  • The threshold-free shower is 170 cm x 140 cm. Grab rails are available. A shower seat can be provided if required.

Room 404 (4th floor, double room)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 200 cm x 118 cm;
    to the left of the bed 80 cm x 200 cm; to the right of the bed 165 cm x 200 cm.
  • The bed is 60 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
    in front of the washbasin and WC 220 cm x 170 cm;
    to the left of the WC 50 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 89 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet. Both grab rails can be folded up.
  • The washbasin has limited access. The mirror can be seen when sitting and standing.

Room 419 (4th floor, multi-bed room)

  • The manoeuvring spaces in bedroom 1 are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 140 cm x 148 cm;
    to the left of the double bed 168 cm x 200 cm; to the right of the double bed 78 cm x 200 cm.
    The bed is 60 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in bedroom 2 are:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. wardrobes) 100 cm x 184 cm;
    to the left of the single bed 122 cm x 200 cm; to the right of the single bed 184 cm x 200 cm.
    The bed is 60 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
    in front of the washbasin and WC 209 cm x 149 cm;
    to the left of the WC 103 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 81 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up.
  • The washbasin has limited access. The mirror can be seen when sitting and standing.
  • The threshold-free shower is 150 cm x 200 cm. Grab rails are available. A shower seat can be provided if required.

Wellness area (5th floor)

  • The areas in front of the lowest sauna benches are at least 230 cm wide and at least 181 cm deep. 
  • Sauna wheelchairs are not available.
  • The threshold-free showers are 166 cm x 197 cm. Grab rails are available. A shower seat can be provided if required.
  • There is an alarm trigger in the shower. 
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the WC are:
    in front of the washbasin 200 cm x 140 cm; in front of the WC 160 cm x 174 cm;
    to the left of the WC 106 cm x 70 cm; to the right of the WC 134 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. Both grab rails can be folded up.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible. The mirror can be seen while sitting or standing.

Public WC for people with disabilities (first floor left)

  • The passage width of the door is 78 cm.
  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of/behind the door, in front of the WC and the washbasin 163 cm x 185 cm;
    to the left and right of the WC 91 cm x 70 cm.
  • Fold-up grab rails are provided on both sides of the WC.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • There is no alarm trigger.
  • There is another public WC on the first floor and one in the conference area. The manoeuvring spaces are smaller (see detailed report).

  • Assistance dogs may be brought along.
  • The entrance area is visually rich in contrast.
  • All elevated areas that can be used by guests are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • There is a tactile guidance system with floor indicators throughout all public areas. Some of the guide strips are visually rich in contrast, but not always. Handrails with tactile information on room numbers (Braille and prismatic writing) lead to the rooms.
  • The signage is designed in easily legible and high-contrast lettering. Orientation information is provided in Braille. There are tactile floor plans.
  • Glass doors are not marked with safety markings.
  • In the elevators, an outgoing emergency call is confirmed audibly, e.g. by an intercom system. Operating elements are tactile. The stop position is announced by voice.
  • Stairs have handrails on both sides. The steps are not visually rich in contrast.
  • The lettering on the menu is straightforward and visually rich in contrast.

  • The alarm is clearly visible in the entire building. 
  • There is an audio induction loop system at the counter and in the conference rooms.
  • In the Restaurant "Waldbeere" there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, where there are no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the field of vision, as well as seating areas with low ambient noise.
  • In the elevator, an outgoing emergency call is confirmed audibly, but not visibly.
  • Free WiFi access is available.
  • There is at least one electrical outlet near the bed.
  • Ringing or knocking at the room door is indicated by a flashing signal which can be heard in all rooms (rooms 314 and 404).
