Traditional craft reimagined: a visit to Germany’s first Destillatheque in Franconia with fine brandy sommelier Franziska Bischof
Destillathek Franziska Bischof
High-quality spirits, crafted by hand: Fine Brandy Sommelier Franziska Bischof, a fourth-generation distiller, combines the techniques of her predecessors with modern technology and fresh ideas. She also creates unique concoctions from rowan berries, quinces or ginger.
The family has been practising the traditional craft of distilling for nearly a hundred years. Franziska has made it her main profession. At the modern family-run distillery, she offers tours, workshops and themed events, where guests can learn about the production of fine brandies. The Destillathek, where visitors can of course sample the various “characters” of the spirits, is the first of its kind. Its large glass windows also provide a wide view of the surrounding Vorrhön landscape.
The Destillathek is equipped to accommodate people with mobility impairments. Additionally, tours for people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users are available by prior arrangement.
