Design for Big and Small

Wellness and water fun for parents and children. Sometimes together, sometimes separately. The "Ulrichshof" in the Bavarian Forest has already provided many families with wonderful holidays. Elegant flats and suites, two restaurants and lots of adventure round off the experience

SPONSORED STORY “Greetings. Unfortunately, we are busy at the moment at the pony farm or at the bumper cars,” a voice from a tape cheerfully and cheekily says. Even the answering machine of the "Ulrichshof" makes it clear in a friendly way who is in charge here: the children. "Yes, that was Leopold, who was a guest here. We spontaneously asked him if he would like to make the recording. He did a great job, didn't he?" says junior boss Nikolaus Brandl happily.

Elegant Instead of Gaudy

The four-star superior hotel "Ulrichshof" in the Bavarian Forest between Cham and Bad Kötzting is dedicated to providing every comfort for families. And it is a family business itself. In addition to father Ulrich N. Brandl, who founded the successful hotel in 1992 with a few flats on the more than 500-year-old farm, the management is shared by sons Nikolaus and Benjamin as well as Michaela Lankes.

The senior boss’s partner is the "good soul" of the house and takes special care of the guests. All four are constantly working on new ideas on how to offer stressed parents and lively children an unforgettable holiday experience.

The consistently high-quality design of the flats and suites with lots of wood, large glass fronts and an elegant colour concept plays an important role, especially in comparison to other children's hotels.

“Our style is intentionally not gaudy and childish, but is intended to allow parents to relax their body and soul,” says Nikolaus Brandl, “and also have a somewhat calming effect on the children. After all, they have enough exciting experiences with us...”

A Paradise Full of Games and Horses

In any weather. Children can let off steam in the indoor area covering 1,500 square metres. It's even more exciting outside. The adventure playground has a double cable car, a knight's castle, a giant trampoline, a petting zoo and much more.

Our style is intentionally neither gaudy nor childish

The little ones can dig in the sand, while the older ones can go on a discovery tour in the forest, build dams by the little stream or simply run around in the flower meadows.

In addition, there is a wide range of riding activities, from pony rides through the forest to longeing lessons and horse riding lessons. "At our 'StallZEIT', the children are busy all day and the parents have the day off," smiles Brandl, who is an enthusiastic equestrian himself. One of the ponies is called "Niki" after his nickname: "Unfortunately, I'm too heavy to ride it myself, so the guest children have to do it!"

In total, more than 80 hours of loving childcare are offered per week. Parents of very young children, on the other hand, are welcome to use the hotel's baby monitor service, which allows them to relax in the sauna, the Western bar "Crazy Horse Saloon" or the fine-dining restaurant.

Excursion or wellness?

Parents with older children can do a lot in the nearby surroundings, for example, watch glassblowers at work in Arnbruck or learn how paper or candles are made in the "Erlebniswelt Flederwisch" in Furth am Wald. And in winter, skiing on the local mountain Hoher Bogen is also on the agenda. "Most of our guests, however, prefer to make the most of what we have to offer," says Nikolaus Brandl.

And no wonder. The water and wellness world with no less than nine indoor and outdoor pools, a waterfall, a whirlpool and a giant slide fulfils every need. In the "Pirate's World", children can immerse themselves in South Sea adventures, while there is a separate "Parents' SPA" where adults can relax in peace.

Whether on stylish lounge furniture on the terrace, comfortable waterbeds or in the "fire lounge" with a view of the crackling fireplace, guests can enjoy time to themselves. Elegant Balinese beds invite you to dream on the sunbathing lawn in the "nature bath".

Bark, moss and wood

Perhaps a delightful candlelight dinner afterwards? The adults are also among themselves in the elegant gourmet restaurant "Garden of Eden". The restaurant areas "Ghost Forest", "Magic Forest" and "Shire Forest", on the other hand, combine the needs of young and old in a well thought-out design.

Parlours and niches on several levels create a cosy space for each family. Lots of wood, but also other natural materials from the Bavarian Forest such as bark or moss bring nature indoors matching the regional, sustainable cuisine.

"Of course there's still a degree of noise, that's obvious," smiles Nikolaus Brandl, who has no children of his own yet. "But when the time comes, I definitely know what to expect..." His brother Benjamin has just become a father and can now personally begin to consider the advantages of a baby swimming pool or baby monitor service.
