Wildlife Park Mehlmeisel

Description

The Mehlmeisel Wildlife Park is a beautiful and barrier-free excursion destination in Bavaria. Here visitors can experience nature up close and observe the diverse animal world.

The game park has extensive grounds that are easily accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments. There are designated barrier-free paths and the enclosures and exhibits are also accessible to all visitors.

At the wildlife park, you can discover native wildlife, from deer and foxes to lynx and wildcats. A highlight is the wolf enclosure, where visitors can observe the majestic animals up close.

In addition to the animals, the wildlife park also offers a variety of recreational opportunities, such as an adventure playground, a miniature golf course and a swimming lake. Several catering establishments provide for the physical well-being in the Mehlmeisel Game Park, which are also easily accessible for wheelchair users.

  • There are two marked parking space for people with disabilities (parking space size: 400 cm x 700 cm).
  • The path from the car park to the entrance is 50 m long.
  • The building is steplessly accessible.
  • Almost all evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible.
  • Exception: the "Waldhaus" is only accessible via a treshold of 3.5 cm.
  • All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 87 cm wide.
  • The cash desk is 94 cm high at its lowest point. There is another, equivalent communication possibility while in a sitting position.
  • Outdoor paths are at least 160 cm wide and easy to walk and drive on and have a maximum longitudinal gradient of up to 6 %.
  • There is seating available (indoors and outdoors).
  • The exhibits and stations are predominately visible while sitting.
  • The information on the exhibits and stations are predominately legible while sitting. 
  • The entire route of the guided tour is steplessly accessible for wheelchair users.

Public toilet for people with disabilities (in the "Waldhaus")

  • The maneuvering spaces are: 
    170 cm x 150 cm in front of the washbasin;
    in front of the toilet 150 cm x 120 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 50 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 100 cm x 70 cm.
  • There is a grab rail to the left and right of the toilet.
  • Both grab rails can be fliepped-up. 
  • The washbasin is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be viewed while sitting or standing.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.

  • There is no guidance system with floor indicators in outdoor and indoor areas.
  • The entrance area is visually contrasting and tactilely contrasting to the surroundings.
  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • The exhibits in the "Waldhaus" are generally well lit.
  • The exhibits are available for touching, smelling and hearing.
  • The signage at the exhibits in the "Waldhaus" and in the animal outdoor area is in legible, visually contrasting font. There is no information in Braille or prismatic writing.
  • The circular path in the animal outdoor area has a high-contrast visual and tactile boundary.
