LBV Environmental Station Rothsee

Description

The LBV environmental station is located in the middle of the Franconian Lake District, directly at the Rothsee. It offers exciting and informative expeditions into different habitats and living environments. The range of topics is broad: not only offers on the natural habitats of water, sand, meadow and hedges, but also the topics of climate, energy, nutrition, fair trade and team building are provided. All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities". 

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There are four marked disabled parking spaces (250 cm x 800 cm parking space).
  • Access to the building and all rooms usable by the guest is possible without steps.
  • Doors and passageways are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The counter of the cash desk is 77 cm high. 
  • The outdoor walkway along the exhibits has a maximum gradient of 9% over 40 m (to the roof of the building: Interactive Energy Exhibition) and is easy to walk and drive on.
  • Guided tours for people with disabilities are available by appointment.

Exhibits

  • Peek-a-boo box "Kleines ganz groß" (inside): height between 97 cm and 105 cm.
  • Gripping pool (inside): 83 cm high.
  • Mud-water sand area (outside): accessible via ramp with maximum 6% accessibility.
  • Interactive energy exhibition (outside, on the roof): accessible via a path of 115 m over a ramp of 9% slope and 2 m width.
  • Hyde (bird watching, outside): a board wall with peepholes to watch birds. There are higher and lower holes. The path is 1.50 wide, slightly restricted by plants.
  • Aquarium (outside): An aquarium with native fish with explanatory panels. Models of the fish are mounted in wood.

WC for people with disabilities

  • Men's WC: The movement areas next to the WC are 90 cm x 73 cm on the left, 35 cm x 73 cm on the right; fold-up grab rail on the right.
  • Ladies' WC: The movement areas next to the WC are 139 cm x 73 cm on the left, 35 cm x 73 cm on the right; fold-up grab bar on the right.
  • The washbasin can be moved underneath and the mirror can be viewed while standing or sitting.
  • There is an alarm trigger.

  • There is no guidance system with floor indicators in the exterior and interior areas.
  • The entrance area is visually contrasting to the surroundings and tactilely perceptible.
  • Assistance dogs may be brought along.
  • Signage is designed in a legible, high-contrast font.
  • At some stations, there are motion detectors that provide audible information when you get close.
  • Peek-a-boo box "Kleines ganz groß" (inside): high-contrast / pictorial menu guidance or by voice output.
  • Aquarium (outside): An aquarium with native fish with explanatory panels. Models of the fish are mounted in wood, explanations are available in Braille.
  • Guided tours for people with visual impairments and blind people are available by appointment. Exhibits for touching are integrated.
  • Information about the exhibits is provided in writing and acoustically. 
  • There are touch and feel stations.
