All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility tested - partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There is a general parking space available (approx. 7 m from the entrance; parking space size: 345 cm x 500 cm). There are no designated parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The path between the car park and the main and side entrances is easy to walk and drive on.
  • The main entrance to the youth hostel is accessible via two steps.
  • The side entrance is steplessly accessible via a ramp. The ramp is 200 cm long, 130 cm wide and has a maximum longitudinal inclination of 6 %. There is no manoeuvring space at the end of the ramp (ramp ends directly at the entrance door).
  • The reception counter is located on the ground floor. The reception counter is 82 cm high. There is an equivalent communication possibility in a sitting position.
  • The evaluated areas such as rooms, leisure rooms etc. can be reached steplessly via an elevator.
  • The elevator has a cab size of 109 cm x 95 cm. The operating elements are not arranged on a horizontal control panel.
  • Doors and passageways are at least 80 cm wide.
  • In the dining rooms there are wheelchair accessible tables.

Room No. 23 (double bedroom) on the 2nd floor

  • The manoeuvring space in the bedroom is 150 cm x 150 cm in front of the main immobile furnishings, 102 cm x 204 cm to the right and left of the bed.
  • The maximum height of the mattress is 54 cm.
  • The washbasin in room 23 is wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm. The mirror cannot be seen while standing or sitting.
  • For guests of room No. 23 there are public sanitary facilities (showers on the floor, toilet).

Room No. 25 (double bedroom) on the 2nd floor

  • The manoeuvring space in the bedroom is 150 cm x 123 cm in front of immobile furnishings and 139 cm x 220 cm to the right and left of the bed.
  • The maximum height of the mattress is 48 cm.
  • The washbasin in room 25 is 67 cm high and less than 30 cm deep. The mirror cannot be seen while standing or sitting.
  • For guests of room No. 25 there are public sanitary facilities (shower on the floor, toilet).

Sanitary area to the rooms on the 2nd floor

  • The manoeuvring space to the left of the toilet is 23 cm x 70 cm, to the right 26 cm x 70 cm.
  • The manoeuvring space in front of the toilet is 86 cm x 116 cm, in front of the washbasin 150 cm x 114 cm.
  • There are handles on both sides, the one on the left can be folded up.
  • The height of the upper edge of the shower tray to the floor at ground level is 2 cm. A shower seat is available or can be provided if required. There are handles in the shower.
  • The mirror cannot be seen when standing or sitting.

  • Assistance dogs are not allowed.
  • The entrance area is not visually contrasted to the surroundings, but can be recognized by a tactile change of the floor covering.
  • The operating elements (e.g. door handles, light switches, emergency call buttons) are tactilely detectable throughout the building.

  • The paths in corridors are visually rich in contrast to the surroundings throughout the building.
  • Walls or other structural elements can predominantly be used as orientation.
  • All evaluated areas available to the guest (entrance area, cash desk/counter, bedrooms, corridors) are well illuminated, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • The steps are not visually rich in contrast.
  • There is no uninterrupted guidance system (e.g. floor indicators) indoors and outdoors.
  • Signage is clearly legible and visually rich in contrast.
  • There is no information in Braille.

  • There is no clearly optically perceptible alarm.
  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • There is a technical possibility for deaf people to communicate with the service staff (WiFi).
  • In the dining rooms there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the field of vision or eye contact. There are no seating areas with low background noises.
  • There is no free electrical outlet near the bed.
  • Ringing or knocking on the room door is not indicated by a flashing signal.

  • The name and logo of the establishment are clearly recognizable from the outside at the entrance.
  • Business cards/brochures with the address and telephone number of the host are not visibly displayed neither at the reception desk nor in the rooms.
  • There is no information in easy language. Information for orientation is occasionally available in photorealistic representation.
  • There is no colored or pictorial guidance system.
