All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - partially accessible for people with walking disabilities".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There are no (in-house) parking spaces.
  • The outdoor path to the entrance is easy to walk on and drive on.
  • The entrance can be reached via ramps without thresholds or steps. The longitudinal inclination of the ramps is 8 % and 11 % respectively (alternative: stairs).
  • The exhibition rooms and facilities that can be used by the guest can be reached steplessly via lifts (cabin size: 242 cm x 185 cm; no horizontal control panel).
  • The information desk with cash desk is 122 cm high. There is no equivalent possibility of communication in a sitting position.
  • Public doors and passageways are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The exhibits and the corresponding information are predominately visible and legible in a sitting position.
  • Aids offered: mobile museum chairs, wheelchairs for rent, audio guides
  • Technical possibilities for information transfer: audio guides
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Seats are available.

Public toilets for people with disabilities

  • Public toilet for women
    • The maneuvering space in front of the toilet is 154 cm x 95 cm, in front of the washbasin 156 cm x 95 cm.
    • The maneuvering spaces next to the toilet are 86 cm x 63 cm on the left and 25 cm x 63 cm on the right.
    • There are handles which can be folded up on both sides of the toilet.
    • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • Public toilet for men
    • The maneuvering space in front of the toilet is 150 cm x 78 cm, in front of the washbasin 95 cm x 221 cm.
    • The maneuvering spaces next to the toilet are 24 cm x 64 cm on the left and 90 cm x 64 cm on the right.
    • There are handles which can be folded up on both sides of the toilet.
    • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

  • Assistance dogs are not allowed.
  • The entrance is visually contrasted to the surroundings, but not recognizable by a tactile change of floor covering.
  • Most of the control elements are visually rich in contrast and tactile.
  • In the exhibition, the exhibits, most of which are well illuminated, contrast visually with their surroundings.
  • Information on the exhibits is not provided in Braille.
  • There is some acoustic information about the exhibits (e.g. films).
  • The paths in corridors / aisles are predominantly visually contrasted with the surroundings.
  • The paths in corridors / aisles are not marked with tactile markings throughout the whole building. The walls or other structural elements cannot be used for orientation. There is no guidance system with floor indicators.
  • Guided tours are offered for visually impaired and blind people.
