Description

The previous entrance to the Documentation Center is no longer accessible because of the surrounding construction site for the remodeling work.  
The ticket office and information desk, along with the entrance to the Interim Exhibition, are at the same level as the driveway to the courtyard of the Congress Hall.

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • The tram and bus stop "Doku-Zentrum" is about 500 m from the entrance. 
  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities (space size: 350 cm x 540 cm), 70 m from the entrance.
  • Access is possible without steps. 
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for guests are accessible without steps or via ramps. 
  • The ramp at the entrance to the ticket office has a maximum gradient of 8 % and a total length of 5 m.
  • The ramp on the way from the ticket office to the WC for people with disabilities has a maximum gradient of 9% and a total length of 4m.
  • Exterior paths are at least 150 cm wide. Exterior paths have a maximum longitudinal slope of 10 %. 
  • Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide. 
  • The exhibits are predominantly visible, perceptible or recognisable from a seated position. 
  • The information on the exhibits is predominantly legible while seated.
  • The Kannsen counter is 111 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • The information counter is 107 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • The following aids are available: Wheelchair, portable folding chairs. 
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and for wheelchair users. Pre-registration for the guided tour is required. 
  • The entire guided tour route is step-free for wheelchair users. 
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities to use during the tour.

  • The manoeuvring spaces are
    in front of the washbasin 120 cm x 200 cm;
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 25 cm x 45 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 130 cm x 45 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The right grab rail can be flpped-up. 
  • The washbasin is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.

  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the establishment/offerings. 
  • The entrance area is recognisable by a tactilely perceptible change of floor covering and visually contrasted with the surroundings. 
  • There are no floor indicators in the interior and exterior areas.
  • There are glass doors with no safety markings at a height of 40-70 cm and 120-160 cm. 
  • The raised areas that can be used by the guest (entrance area, cash desk/counter, corridors, hallways) are partially well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • There is a visual contrast between the exhibits and the surroundings. 
  • The exhibits are generally well lit. 
  • The exhibit signage is not visually contrasting. 
  • Information about the exhibits is not tactilely detectable.
  • The signage (directions) is designed in legible lettering, but is not tactilely detectable. There is a good visual contrast between the lettering/pictogram and the background. 
  •  Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. Pre-registration for the guided tour is necessary.

  • There is no audio induction loop system at the counter. 
  • There is no visually clearly perceptible alarm (e.g. in case of fire alarm).
  • Information on the exhibits is not provided in German sign language.
  • Guided tours for deaf people are offered in German sign language, but not for people with hearing disabilities.Pre-registration for the guided tour is ecessary.
  • The tour guides are trained to conduct a guided tour for deaf people in German sign language.

  • The "Doku-Zentrum" stop for tram lines 6 and 8 and for bus lines 36, 55 and 65 is approx. 200 m from the documentation center. The car park is 50 m away.
  • The name or logo of the establishment is clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • The destination of the path is usually within sight or there are signs at a visible distance.
  • There is no colored or pictorial guidance system.
  • There is no information in easy language.
  • Guided tours are offered for guests with cognitive impairments. The guided tour for people with cognitive impairments is in easy language. A reservation is necessary for the guided tour.
